Meant to visit along time ago to confirm rumors of reviews but didn't make it until this past week of October 2019. Well! The rumors are correct! It is the best German food you will have outside of Germany. It is as if you are eating at your mom or grandmom place. Somebody in there knows German food! Sirloin sliders (3) portion evergreen! The bratwurst must be had. Don't leave without having it, and the Reuben is one of the best sandwiches in town's! The name of the place means exactly that. UNDER (Unter) which means is in the basement: bar and two tables. TWO. so if it rain or its cold, you can't sit in one of the three outside tables! The place is your typical German beer den and food to accompany your beer, which means a limited menu. Don't complain and don't go if you want a full service and unlimited food choices. The service considering they had to go downstairs and bring the food upstairs and outside was efficient and pleasant . The food was fresh and true German. The atmosphere under or outside outstanding. We made friends with 6 people! Go-ahead you will have fun, eat good food and make...
Read moreOur monthly dining-out group of 10 enjoyed a wonderful evening at Unterhausen. We were seated in the spacious street level dining room as a couple in our group are unable to go up and down stairs. We would have ventured downstairs to their original quaint German themed pub otherwise. We were amazed by the extensive beer and wine menu. Many in our group raved about the Rueben Sandwich dinner and others, the Bratwurst dinner or London Broil sliders. I enjoyed my Spaetzle with London Broil selection along with a hearty dark stout draft brew. Our server was friendly and professionally attentive not skipping a beat while making sure we all were pleased. The restaurant owner greeted all of us and treated us to humorous stories. Someone in our group must have told him my 80th birthday was in a couple of days as he sang a traditional german birthday song. Definitely an evening...
Read moreThis is awesome! One of Simpsonville's best little secrets that I want to tell everyone about!!! Not the biggest space downstairs, but that's what makes it amazing. It is cozy, the walls are lined with wine bottles and candles, the bar small but welcoming, the tables great for a nice time with friends and drinks. Jack is a freaking AWESOME bartender, friendly, approachable, and recommended the Rueben which was AMAZING!!! Steve, great cook in the kitchen that made the Rueben and my fiancé's spaztel dish. The red cabbage is GOOD! Wade the owner, he will Prost everyone that walks in and asks how everyone is doing and that is also what makes this establishment a great place we will come back too. Get in early to get a spot downstairs (the upstairs has room and getting upgrades), but downstairs is where it is at. Love this...
