Golden Bowl — Restaurant in Sioux City

I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. As a child, we always got Chinese food from a restaurant called House of Hunan. They had the best Chinese food. When I think of Chinese food (the American kind), I think of House of Hunan.

Well, House of Hunan closed shortly after I moved to Sioux City, Iowa. I was heart broken. I looked forward to ordering from there when visiting home. One day, I decided to try Golden Bowl in Sioux City. I just knew it wasn’t going to be as great as House of Hunan. I walked through the doors of Golden Bowl, and was greeted by a familiar face. It was Rose! She and husband her owned House of Hunan in Omaha.

The food is just as good as it was at House of Hunan. It is the absolute best when Rose or her sons are in the kitchen.

You have never had fried rice until you try their combo fried rice. I also recommend the the sesame, and yum yum chicken if you like sweet and savory Chinese food.

I am so happy to be able to get the Chinese food of my childhood even though I have moved...

Our work place regularly orders food from Golden Bowl and have always been satisfied about the wait times when it comes to delivery. The nature of our workplace is similar that we can also fall behind. Whenever we order we are told if it'll be 45 min or an hour which is alright.

However today we had awful customer service when we ordered and waited two hours to receive it. Food was ordered at 545 and we were told it would be one hour. They did NOT call and let us know they were going to take longer than planned, which would have been acceptable and prevented this whole issue.

Instead when we called to ask an hour and a half after our order we were told it would be 5 minutes. We waited 20 more minutes, the two hours mark, before we called again. We called and were told that for our impatience they would no longer deliver to our establishment.

They were unnecessarily rude when all it would have taken was a 1 minute phone call to give us a heads up. What a shame, I liked...

Well what can I say about Garden Bowl it's definitely not my favorite but Grandpa loves it he said it's the best place he's ever ate he loves this place I don't know how many times a week we go get him this he likes the six large shrimp over rice and the sauce and he calls it gravy I know them people look at his crazy cuz he'll tell him give me extra gravy it's not gravy it's sauce but you can't tell him that LOL but he absolutely loves this place and yes each one of us make it least three trips maybe for a week to come here to get him his special shrimp and rice and don't forget the gravy my grandchildren said it was okay with them too I didn't care for it but I'm not really into the Chinese food it's good food I'm not saying it's bad it's just not my taste my grandpa loves it the best place in South Sioux City Nebraska just over the bridge from where he lives lol enjoy folks I hope you like it...
