We came here on a Friday evening. It was very empty, which should have been a clue of how the food would be. They have a great outdoor area, so maybe if you're coming for just wings and beer it would be a nice place to go. But I wouldn't recommend it for dinner. We were seated as soon as we went in, in the back dining area. We ordered drinks and Calamari as our app. The drinks came quickly, and they were ok. Very strong. You couldn't taste any of the flavors they were supposed to be, you just tasted alcohol. We only had one each. The Calamari came quickly. Although it really was cooked well, the breading flavor overpowered the calamari. But at least the calamari was tender. Bread was served. It was very generous for just 2 people. The bread tasted fresh, and it was hot. Then our entrees came. My Fish n Chips came without chips. I pointed this out and the server quickly went to get some fries. Again, the fish was cooked well. Tender and flakey, but again, the breading seasoning over powered the fish. I took the breading off to eat it. It was good, but not "Fish n Chips". My partner ordered Meatballs, sausage and pasta. They were out of linguini and subbed fettuccini (after asking if it was ok). There was one large meatball, which my partner said was very dense. The sausage was ok, and the pasta was overcooked. The bill was about average.. just under $80 for the two of us before tip. The service was very good, we tip according to service (25% in this case) We live in the area but it was the first time we had tried Alaska Pete's. We most likely will not be back again.
REPLY TO ALASKA PETE'S RESPONSE: I'm sorry it's not the score you expected. I will break it down the way we saw it. The Calamari: The batter was not good, unfortunately making the tender calamari taste bad. The batter is not something that can be sent back and changed. -1 star The Fish n Chips: The Fish batter, the same unpleasant batter. I needed to remove the batter to eat it. I didn't mention the fries that I needed to ask for. I tried about 3 or 4 of them and found them to be soggy.. I didn't eat them. -1.5 stars The Meatball, Sausage, Pasta: The Meatball was dense. He didn't finish it. And the pasta over-done. The pasta could have been remade, but not the meatball. The meal is not good when 2 of the main components are not made well. -1.5 stars You're at 1 Star right now.... The app and both meals were a fail. The table bread does not make the meals taste better. I gave 2 stars because the service was good. And I tipped according to the service since the server doesn't cook the meals.
However, the response of the establishment was disrespectful of my honest review. " The only fault is the breading"... is a MAJOR fault, ruining both the appetizer and one of the main meals. Yes, pasta could be remade, but what about the hard inedible meatball. "Somethings not adding up" ? I hope this clarified how I added, and subtracted, from the star rating. You will not take constructive criticism and rudely reply to reviews you don't like. Bad food and lacking professionalism. I took...
Read moreI honestly don’t know where to start. The environment is wonderful and our waitress did everything she can to keep things under control. We started off with appetizers and drinks. The best part is she asked what would we like to drink and we said may we have a menu. We were told I’m sorry we don’t have a drink menu, we are in the process of changing it. Ok we were like ok whatever, now comes the order, we tell her everything we want. We received our appetizer maybe 15-20 mins later and it was cold. 45 mins later from there for our dinner. Now the best part begins, my daughter meal. Her burger look liked meatloaf, and her bun looked liked a bagel???. I ordered a filet mignon, that i never had a filet mignon look like that. I decided to eat it anyway and lets just say the taste was weird. My wife ordered a captains platter, the entire platter had no taste. Now we are getting to the point that if your reading this review you will be wowed. We mentioned to the server that the food wasn’t the best. So she apologized and mentioned for the inconvenience we well adjust the bill. I said thank you so much, and after I provided my CC, the bill was switched and we were charged full price. I barely don’t write reviews but this had to be said. Now most likely I’m going to get a response on google from your establishment saying I’m truly sorry and give us another chance etc etc. You had the opportunity to apologize when we complained about our order and instead you had the waitress speak to us versus a manager coming to us. This is the 1st time I experienced poor sneaky service. Also not to the mention what we were hearing from the other patrons.
Updated 8/6/23 I understand that everyone has their own preferences, but it is fair to also say that maybe the person cooking had an off day. This will not be a wrestling match. When I used the word "sneaky" I was referring to the fact that the receipt shown was not the original one brought to me when I handed over my cc. The original bill was for $201.XX. This bill for $218. XX is what came back to me for my signature after it was already charged. That is why I wrote a note on the receipt. Thank you...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the place is very beautiful and well maintain. Its clean and the wait staff was super friendly. They all had masks on and were following proper protocol. Geonna was a great server as well as the lady that sat us down. Before I went to the restaurant I looked at the menu online and figured I was in the area and I would try it. I ordered fried calamari since it had said they were known for seafood and steak so I figured let me try it out. Well it was probably from a bag and frozen, so I would skip it and not order it. It was very chewy , over cooked and not worth 10.95. However the sweet sauce that came with it was good and tasty. We ordered the chili and the cheese steak ( with no mushrooms) . the chili was good and for the money the portion fit the price. I was originally going to order the pastrami but apparently they only had corned beef ( bummer)!! so I picked cheese steak ( cause they are known for steak) and their house fries. I was like ok, good fries and a cheese steak I'll take it. Apparently there was an onion shortage cause I had like 4 strands of onions on it but whatever!!! Well, it was ok and I felt like I could have gotten steak'ums and it would have been the same. Moving along to the fries. Well I was supped for their delicious fries anddddd they are literally from a bag. KFC French fries are 1,000 times better, so that's, that! She did offer dessert but we declined. Try it out for yourself and see what's what. It's a nice place and I think you pay for the atmosphere. have a beer and hang but other than that I think Comptons diner is better. Times are tuff for everyone and I speak for myself when I say I pam spending less when I go out but when you say that items are hand breaded and " our delicious fries" I assume you make them and they don't come from sysco corp. Be blessed and stay safe!! P.S. I forgot about the pickle..... It tasted weird and I LOVE PICKLES...
