I do like coming to Laura’s because the beer selection is always so great. Generally the food is sub par. I would say it’s not that much of a step above a Chilli’s or Applebee’s. Today I decided to come for brunch, the beverages are great as usual however I ordered the crab cake Benedict expecting a great crab cake and honestly this crab cake was essentially something you grabbed from the freezer of the grocery store, in addition to all the filler in the crab cake of potato, peppers and sweet onion they layered a piece of American cheese above it before putting the poached egg on top of it. This in my opinion completely causes an imbalance of flavor and takes away from the lemony flavor of the hollandaise sauce. The home fries lack flavor 100% these are essentially boiled potatoes tossed on a grill with paprika and they toss some dried parsley On them before they serve. No flavor at all!
My dinners here have always been lackluster, seafood dish with burnt scallops and had to have them remade twice, moz sticks with essentially red water dipping sauce. Fried calamari with no marinara or cocktail sauce to dip, hardly any banana peppers on them. Buffalo chicken wrap, bland, almost no flavor at all. Pizzas are generally very “wet” too many toppings, too much cheese and sauce causing it to be extremely difficult to eat upon arrival. Generally better reheated the next day.
I hope that this feedback is actually used as constructive criticism because this place definitely has potentially to be above chain restaurants for sure.
Update : 12/23,
Ordered coconut shrimp tonight and they were in the fryer for so long they were black and solid like a rock.
Received a glass with my beer that was absolutely cloudy with scum / lip stick marks.
My friend ordered ramen and it came with 2 hard boiled eggs, massive lemon wedges and what looked like raw handmade noodles that were just not edible.
All I wish the owners would do is hold the kitchen accountable, if you run out ingredients or something just isn’t popular take it off the menu. Historically the only thing I can order from here that comes out of the kitchen consistent every time is the mashed potato...
Read moreThey do not have breakfast anymore and do not take reservations. I was with a wedding party. I let the hostess know that there would be 15 to 20 people showing up. I asked her for the room that was vacant. She told me to wait until everyone showed up and we had an exact head count before she would seat us at one table. There was 10 of us all ready there and waiting. I asked again after 12 minutes of waiting if we can just sit in there separate dinning area. She insisted on know how many people were going to be in our party. I explained to her that I did not have an exact number. After another 5 minutes we were finally seated in the room for private parties. We sat there in the room with no lights on and no service for 8 minutes. More people showed up. I asked twice for some to come take our order. She said in a few minutes when all of your party shows up. I waited 5 more minutes then said you need to have someone a least take our drink order. I was so upset 😡. We had a total of 18 people that showed up. They finally turned the lights on and took our drink orders and brought us menus. After about a half hour of being ignored we finally got to place our orders. There is no breakfast, but on the menu you can get a side of egg. So a couple of up ordered steak with a side of egg. Only to be told that we couldn't have a side of egg because we didn't order a burger. WHAT?!? The egg was listed under sides, it said nothing about burgers. We took up that whole room except 1 table. I was very disappointed and will never go there again. My friends from out of state were in the food industry. One was a chef and couldn't believe that the cook said he wasn't going to cook a side of egg because we ordered steak. If you can't get a side of eggs then it shouldn't be on the menu under sides. Very disappointed in the...
Read moreThe food was absolutely delicious ! I will say that. The service did not meet my expectations. The biggest flag was when I ordered a sangria, she left and came back very quickly with it. Never checked my ID either, but I guess that worked out because when asked I was told it was the virgin one. Not what I asked for. She seemed to busy to answer any of my questions about the food. And when I asked for a recommendation she simply said she'd " come back in a few" so we could decide. I quickly made a choice and ordered - as my fiancee already had and she seemed very busy. We didn't see her again for a while. Our meals were delivered - we ate and then waited 10 minutes for a soda refill. She took my fiancee's plate off the table without stopping - I tried to get her attention a few times but to no avail. My fiancee spoke up after coming back from the restroom and she seemed very irritated that we asked for a box. She asked about dessert simply by saying " dessert tonight"- which we really wanted! But we decided it wouldn't be an enjoyable experience to drag her on with us further. She went to the counter and pretended to print the receipt she had preprinted at the other station. Dropped it with us and came right back - the fastest service we'd had all night was when the money came out ! She was short and cold with us. She was also complaining at a volume we could hear, it seems she was upset with another table or the section she had? Definitely a turn off. I've been a server for twelve years - I am very forgiving, I understand the stress of it all. I'd rather hear you're very busy in a friendly manner than have you shrug me off and ignore as a guest. I really wanted to like this place but I don't know if I'll give it...
