China King — Restaurant in Smithville

Be aware when ordering your food from China King in the City of Smithville, MO.

This evening, I was at the restaurant to pick up my call in order, the lady took my payment and she went to put the food order together using her bare hands and I saw as she wiped her hands on her clothes then picked up the crab rangoons with her bare hands then put them into a bag, but she used a tong to pick up the egg rolls. The two male cooks preparing food but no one didn’t wear gloves.

When the lady handed my order I brought up what I saw, she was only interested to see on reimbursing me back for the egg rolls 🤦🏻‍♀️. I let her know that she touch with her bare hands the register, her necklace, wiped her hands on her clothes and then touched food - I asked if she knew she was doing wrong (cross contamination) and she said “I know”.

So for those of you that enjoy eating Chinese good - I DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant - be cognizant of how people prepare & handle...

Was treated rudely when I went there during the noon lunch hour on a weekday to eat. When I ordered the place was completely dead with no customers and they weren’t working on any orders. Then a few people came in and two of them left 10 minutes after that with their food then 25 minutes into my 30 minute lunch break I asked if I could please have my money back as I would not have time to eat my lunch at this point. At that point I noticed that they were working on about six different to go plates at once and the two people there looked at me angrily and it seemed that they were cussing me out in their native tongue. Then the lady that worked there said it’s done and hastily got together my food and gave it to me. I didn’t have time to eat my food until much later on that day when it was cold. We have been loyal customers of China King for years. Service and food quality has fluctuated over the years with various owners, but has always been okay (not the best Chinese food we’ve had, nor the worst). In recent orders, our food has always been ready much later than what we were quoted and the staff has not been incredibly kind. Our experience today, however, was frustrating and is likely the last time we’ll order from this establishment. We ordered food online and when we arrived to pick it to, were greeted by a gentleman who came from the back and shouted “go away, come back.” There was another customer in the restaurant eating who explained she thought they had left to make a delivery.
