Just had lunch at The Agave. I entered and was promptly seated even though they were busy. I ordered the Lunch Special #24 Steak Burrito with rice, beans, and guacamole salad. At first glance, the portion size is smaller than some of the other Mexican restaurants a county over but you can't beat it for the price. There is still plenty of food on the plate. After ordering, my server Gabriel promptly brought me my drink, salsa, and a basket of warm chips. Let me just say they have great sweet tea!!! Southern style sweet tea. It wasn't very long at all before my order was out. The plate had a good presentation but had a few issues. My main issue was the condiments. I'm not exaggerating when I say you get a teaspoon of sour cream and teaspoon of guacamole. For some people that may be plenty but for me, that hardly counts as a guacamole salad. I can't even tell you if the guac was any good because after spreading it on my burrito I couldn't taste it. The other issue I had was the queso. To me queso is the heart and soul of a Mexican restaurant. Their queso is watery almost like warm milk. It does have some flavor but it's so thin and runny it made my burrito soggy before I could eat it (I was starving I wasn't playing around eating my lunch). The service is amazing! Seated by one, order taken by another, and you have a small older woman who is always cleaning something. The atmosphere was great. The staff attitudes were great. My drink never ran out but the waiter/waitresses do not hover. The place was clean and over all, I enjoyed the meal. Could the food use some upgrading? Sure. Overall, I will visit again. You can't beat it for the price. I paid $12.02 USD for everything and Gabriel was so awesome I left him an $8 tip. If the owner sees this: Give Gabriel a raise. He will keep people like me coming back. He is all smiles, very polite, observant, and still gives customers the space to enjoy their meal. P.S. Sorry I didn't take photos. Like I said, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a local restaurant in a location with few choices, and locals seem to flock here. The sad thing is, I don't know if these people know it's not up to par or like it. Anyways, perhaps when you have no choice you can say it's the best in town.
Decore is very austere but ok, the color of the walls makes you want to leave.
Service was fair. Chip and salsa were delivered to the Table but salsa was flavorless. No flavor at all, no chucks, no onion, no peppers, no cilantro, and no JalapeƱos that I could taste.
The main dish tasted fair but after checking the meat in each, we both left our half-eaten dinners. After looking my dish suddenly tasted like Alpo with enchiladas sauce.
Photos below are Enchiladas Beef and the second was Fajita Quesadilla ..
Beans were good, Rice was Good.
I can not recommend this place at all. Go to any of the other towns to El Jelasco or San Marcos for a better meal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was the most disappointing experience. My sister put in an expensive order to go. We were told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. Ok, thats typical for a to go order, no problem. However it was 35 or more minutes. When we got it, we took it home, ( we live 5 minutes away).. The food was ice cold. The "Crispy Tacos were soggy, and falling apart. We phoned to tell them about it. The woman ( believed to be the owner) gave nothing but a half hearted excuse, that it was bagged up and given to us, as soon as the order was filled.six tacos, 3 crispy, three soft, we had never eaten this restaurants food before, so we wanted to try both, taco salad, two steak fajita quesadillas meals. Really? Did this woman think we have never had mexican take out before? If i could give a minus...
