Made a 7:30 PM reservation for 10 guests. Arrived at 7:30 and seated at 8 PM in a room tucked away with no AC - just fans (August) - so it started out quite warm. We all ordered hot dishes, and by the end of the meal, it was way too warm to finish eating or enjoy the atmosphere. Ordered a variety of dishes, and everyone loved their meals! Yellow Curry with Vegetable Red Curry with Vegetables Green Curry with Chicken Several Pad Thai dishes (Chicken & Seafood) Tom Yum Soup Mojito, Thai Martini, Lychee Martini The food was served fairy quickly, and we all chose our own heat levels (3-10). My husband and I chose 6 & 7 (we typically love heat), and it was a good spot - maybe could've even gone down a couple knotches, so every bite wouldn't be so spicy. Very reasonably priced! Server was friendly and funny. Plenty of vegetarian options. Other than the warm room, the atmosphere was nicely decorated and inviting. Would definitely return and recommend for a nice Thai meal! And there's a little something for everyone even if they aren't familiar with the cuisine.

First time we tried to go here there was a gas leak. But we had reservations and was seated after 10 minutes. We ordered the Bangkok Boat Bay: Chicken Satay (Marinated chicken breast in a mixture of herb, spices and coconut milk, served with our traditional Thai peanut sauce and cucumber chutney), Golden Flower (flaky flower shaped pastry stuffed with chicken, onions, potatoes serve with cucumber chutney), Golden Fingers (Marinated jumbo shrimp, wrapped in wonton paper, deep fried, and served with plum sauce), Star Ton (Crispy wonton skin filled with avocado and cream cheese), Spring Roll (Stuffed with crystal thread noodles and vegetable, then deep fried until golden brown, and served with our sweet and sour plum sauce). Then I ordered the Kow Sai (Egg noodles in a spicy curry broth topped with crunchy noodles. It's a Northern Thai specialty) and the Pad See Ew (Thick rice noodles with egg, broccoli, and carrot in sweet soy sauce). The apps were super good but the main course was very flavorless.

A reservation is a must at this restaurant unless you don't mind waiting... my mistake that I should of tried calling to ask (apparently they do take reservations over the phone). My friend and I arrived at 6:30 on a Friday. The wait was a good 30 minutes. The restaurant is very small and tables are close together filled with customers and busy servers. The decor is all tastefully done. We ordered a couple cocktails while looking over the menu. We chose the Bay Puffs, Small Tom Kha, Pad Thai w/Shrimp, Massaman Beef and the Crispy Chicken. Service is fast and the food and drinks arrive fast. The Puffs were good. The soup, pad thai and beef were excellent with the heat we requested. The chicken was the weakest, bland. All in all a very good meal and we would definitely be back. Atmosphere: small, busy, nice decor. Service: very good. Food: very good.

Pad see ew was out of this world. I got the thai fried rice, it was very good. Good quality meat and lots of fresh veggies. We also ordered Thai tea martinis, they were so good. I love Thai tea so I had to see what this was all about, I would get one every time. The sampler "boat" appetizer was quick, and everything was hot, and delicious. I especially loved the chicken satay, and golden fingers (wrapped fried shrip), my husband practically ate all the peanut sauce with a spoon he liked it so much. The restaurant was cute and tiny with beautiful Thai decorations and plants everywhere. Our server was delightful and so polite. I love this place, thinkin it could be our new pre-fair chow spot, it's so close to the fairgrounds and pretty cheap for such fantastic food and service.

Overall, a decent Thai restaurant. We came here on a Friday evening and got seated immediately. But, you may want to call ahead if you have a bigger group or show up at a busier time of the day. Lots of parking in the parking lot. I always get Drunken Noodles with chicken so that is what I ordered here too. I went with an 8/10 spice level but I would've handled 9 easily. If you're not one for spicy food, probably better to go with a 5 or 6. The Drunken Noodles was very very good. Lots of flavor, veggies and well-cooked chicken. My friend got a Yellow Curry. In their words, it was "cute" which basically means it was just ok. Nothing mind blowing. The service could be better. They aren't really very friendly, more like, do your job, and move on.

Bangkok Bay is hands down one of the best Thai spots in Greater SD. The Beef Salad here is a must-order (pictured below). Think tender slices of sirloin on a sweet-tangy lime and fish sauce dressing that's so good, I could drink it straight up. Other standouts: The Green Curry is perfect - creamy, spicy, and loaded with fresh veggies. And their Thai Basil Chicken brings the heat with tons of fresh basil and a sauce that'll have you ordering extra rice. The staff here treats you like family, always hooking you up with extra rice and packaging up those generous portions with care. Pro tip: get here early. This place is popular for a reason and fills up fast. 🌶️
