Stay at the Holiday Inn next door.
I'm not sure what's happened to the Marriott Brand over the years but this hotel is yet another reminder that there are other places to stay that are nicer - and cheaper.
The rooms - I was very specific about needing a quiet room and was assured that the ground level room 146 was great. When I walked in, it felt like a cavernous, cold, dark environment with a sliding door to the courtyard. The laminate floors did not have a single carpet and the odd bathroom, with its cold tile floor, was also absent any sort of bathroom rug. The end result - I had to use towels (that I had to call for every day) as bath mats because the room and floor were freezing. The paint is chipped and the furniture is old.
Do you use a smart phone or tablet? You're not going to be able to charge your device on the night stand because they haven't bothered to upgrade the lamps to today's technology. So, bring a USB extension or whatever you need to make sure you can have your gadgets next to you.
Do you use a computer? Good lucking plugging yours in. There are NO practical electrical outlets for a computer or phone or extension cord anywhere near the "desk". You're going to have to unplug the heater wall unit (charming and never worked) to plug in your laptop - hoping you don't get electrocuted.
Good news - you can plug your USB cord into the tall lamp in the corner that's about 10 feet away from your bed. The couch in the room that converts to a bed also has USB ports - but again - you won't find any near the bed itself.
Chipped walls. Sad decor. No heat. Shabby curtains. Sad "patio" furniture. Oh my.
Do you like hot water with your shower? Then re-think your idea of hot because the water was lukewarm most days (I spent 8 abysmal nights in this environment and lukewarm became my new normal).
Do you like peace and quiet? There were multiple sports teams staying at the hotel and the teens were running through the hallways until 11PM, screaming at the pool until 1030PM, and not a single person at the hotel could manage the situation. Security didn't help. I guess when you're getting money from so many, the concerns of a few guests all on deaf ears.
Does a ground floor room with direct access to the courtyard sound sexy? Just remember that NONE of the rooms have carpet - so you will hear every single step, bang, shift, snort, and stomp over your head in the room above while you're in your room. You'll also hear every screaming child or teen staying over your head.
The hallways are dim, the decor is old, there's a tiny coffee maker in the room but no bottles of complimentary water. There are ZERO amenities. ZERO. And you're paying quite a bit.
You can grab a coffee or whatever from the "Starbucks Cafe" in the courtyard and I admit the food was tasty - but again you're going to pay. I suggest that if you stay at this tragic "hotel", walk next door to the liquor store and get what you need for half the price.
I'm not sure why anyone would stay in this hotel when there's a Holiday Inn next door with more charm and practical suites than this Marriott will ever have -...
Read moreThe service was disappointing. I stayed in room 116 from 8/15-8/18 as part of a wedding party. Room 116 is on the first floor, with a sliding glass door leading to the pool area. Upon arrival, I tried to open the door to speak with my family by the pool, but it was jammed or off the track. I called the front desk to report the door and a broken toilet paper holder, and a helpful staff member informed me that someone would come to fix them at 9 AM the next day (Friday).
However, no one showed up at 9 AM, so I mentioned it to Chris, the manager, when I left for breakfast at 10 AM. He assured me it would be taken care of, but when I returned from breakfast, nothing had been done. I spoke to Chris again around 2 PM after lunch, and still, nothing was fixed. When I returned from dinner that evening, the door was still not repaired. I was surprised to see Chris still working late, so I informed him for the third time that the door was still jammed.
On Saturday morning, I went to the front desk around 10 AM and asked Noah, the front desk staff, to speak to the manager. After explaining the issue, Noah went to the back office and told me the manager (Kyan) was busy but assured me it would be handled. However, by the time I left for dinner around 7:30 PM, the door still hadn’t been fixed. When I asked Noah about it again, he said the manager was on a conference call but offered me a coffee coupon, which I declined, stating that I just wanted the door fixed so my 85-year-old mother could easily access the courtyard without walking through the lobby.
At this point, I had reported the issue SIX times, including three times directly to the manager, Chris. I even pointed out that the door needed to be accessible in case of a fire. While Chris and Noah were polite, the repeated unresponsiveness made my stay uncomfortable. I continually felt awkward as me and my mom had to walk past them in the lobby to get to the pool area.
Finally, late on Saturday, the door was repaired, so we were able to use it Saturday night after the wedding. However, it was useless on Sunday as we had to check out. The toilet paper holder, which was broken upon arrival, was never fixed either.
I’m disappointed with the service and surprised that this property carries the Marriott name. I have videos documenting these issues to inform others of what they...
Read moreAs an employee of a Marriott property I am very disgusted with this property, staff and most of all the management of this property. When I checked in I was told breakfast was free and that I could have a 2 PM checkout. I go into my room to find bugs flying all around and felt like I was in a hospital room with how bare the room was. I read many reviews saying that they were there while a renovation was going on. The way my room looked it looked like it had not been renovated in years. I went to have breakfast the following morning and was shocked when I was told it was not free so I ended up going out to breakfast even though I was told it would be free. I then asked if I could get a 4 PM check out instead of a 2 PM check out and they said they wouldn't be able to do that and thought I was already gone out of the room. So they had checked me out before I was even out of the room and then I see I have been charged for breakfast and a smoking fee. I didn't even eat breakfast there nor do I even smoke. When I called to talk to a manager about these extra charges I was told they would be back in an hour and they would call me. Two hours go by and no call so I call again and was told that management would be back in 15 minutes and would call me back. Next day comes and goes and no call from management do I try again and again was told so.eone from management would call me. It's now been 3 weeks and still no ca from management and everytime I call they say someone will call u back. I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment of management and the other employees there. Being in a management myself for a Marriott property I am surprised that they have a job because if I treated my guests like I have been treated I would be out of a job. This hotel does not stand for Marriotts statement of being the World's favorite travel company. They are a disgrace to the Marriott name. I will be reaching out to Marriott since management can't seem to give me the time of day. DO...
