We were staying here in Cedar and saw it fitting we eat here. When we first walked in, everyone in the restaurant turned to look at us, which made me feel a little I comfortable, until we were sitting and I noticed we did the same thing when anyone walked in, probably because the sunlight makes the bar super bright for a second, lol. Anyways, I digress, so when we walked in, no one was there to greet us or welcome us at all. So we walked up to the bar, my husband, and 4 small children. It felt unwelcoming. We asked the woman behind the bar if we seat ourselves and she said she would, and cleared a couple tables and put them together for us. She did tell us they were extremely short staffed stating orders and food is about a 45 minute (at least) wait. She said they cannot get people to work, like at all. So we sat down, service was slow, but she was literally the only one working, clearing tables, working behind the bar, taking orders, bringing out food. I felt so bad. We ordered and she brought our appetizers, pickle chips and mozzarella sticks out. Omgoodness they were so good. Probably some of the best I’ve had. The food took much much longer and a man brought it out, who I assumed was the cook, because he occasionally popped out from the back to bring food out. My club sandwich had cheese on it, which I didn’t want, but didn’t realize it had cheese on it and forgot to order it without. Other than that, the food was good and we were happy. Sometimes in these crazy times, you have to be aware that service is slow because they literally have no help. As for the building, it is dark, bar like, only one toilet restrooms (2 of them) and old banquet type chairs. Nothing to write home about, but the food was good and we ate there again on our trip (that time...
Read moreAs a local (10 mins down the road), I have been blessed to have been able to enjoy “The Tav” for 20+ years now. Food is ALWAYS good and worth the wait if there is one, however I will say service has changed since the ownership change. The last 3 times I have come in for dinner in the last month, I’ve had an embarrassing experience during seating each time. We always knew it as the place to grab an empty table. It clearly presents itself as a seat yourself joint. That is not the case anymore and there should definitely be signs now to indicate that. If I’m a local being embarrassed during seating, out of towners are definitely feeling it. Once on a slow afternoon, we tried to push tables together and got in trouble, totally understandable. But tonight was unacceptable. As a party of 3, we walked in, saw an empty table and sat down. Waitress chastised us and said “You can’t sit there, there are people who have been waiting.”, so I said “Where?”, she said “Out on the patio, you’ll have to wait.”….okay. Another way to phrase that would have been: “There will be a short wait if you can stand over there.” A similar phrase was said to another group who came in after us. Or just SIMPLY put a “Please wait to be seated” sign out. The embarrassment is starting to outweigh the food and atmosphere experience and I truly HOPE the owners or management take this to heart because I love coming here. We are fine adapting, but...
Read moreWhen we walked into the tavern, the smell was very musty. It’s a great place if your looking for a small town off the grid feel definitely made for older people, stained carpeted floor, the bathroom doors and very thin maybe 2 feet or so wide. The meat lovers Pizza was terrible it fell apart as soon as you picked it up. There were bristles in it from I assume the brush that is used to put oil on the dough. The pizza looked like it was cooked on the plastic tray it came out on. The meat tasted fake and was really thin. The service wasn’t the best the waitress never checked up on us and within 8 minutes of us getting our food she gave us a to go box without us asking for it and we didn’t get drink refills and wasn’t offered any, didn’t check on us when we got our food to see if we needed anything she just stood behind the bar telling people to work even though she wasn’t working herself. Keep in mind that we were the only ones in there getting food other than the 3 person family who was eating when we got there. Everyone else (10 people max) were there...
