I really hate leaving mixed reviews especially for non american restaurants because I think the seacoast area is very lacking in international cuisine, but my experience at Flame was mid at best. I got the jerk chicken and was very excited for it but ended up severely disappointed in what I got. What I got was a bowl full of 80% bones and very very little meat. I will say the sauce was amazing and had a nice kick to it but the actual edible portion of my food was very little. I was constantly picking around bones and pulling bones out of my mouth. I was still very hungry after what little I managed to scrounge so I ended up eating half of my gfs rasta pasta. Which I will say was very yummy. I also checked with a few Jamaican acquaintances of mine just to see if this is what jerk chicken is usually like and they ended up telling me I got scammed. I guess they either didn't end up checking the cut they gave me or purposely use the cheapest "scrap" cuts they can. I wasn't the only one this happened to, my gfs father also got the jerk chicken and was very disappointed that his was almost all bones too. I'm thrilled to have a Jamaican restaurant in Somersworth and will try again. Hopefully my experience is...

We ordered oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage, jerk chicken with rice and peas with mixed vegetables, fried chicken that came with baked macaroni and cheese. Also got an order of festival. We all tried a little of everything and was disappointed by nothing! The spice was not quite as potent as I typically find when I'm in the Caribbean but, I'm thinking that's a wise decision on the part of Flame. New England taste buds....you know. :-) Besides, it's easy to add spice and impossible to take it out.

All in all, a very pleasant experience. We will be regulars.

Thank you for bringing your delicious food and friendly atmosphere to Somersworth!

Update - 1/12/24

We went back to Flame on Saturday, January 6th for our second visit. We were equally happy with the food as well as the service. If I could add anything to our overall experience it would be to add some warm, Caribbean sun and some palm trees to the experience. Not going to find either in New England especially this time of year. I'll happily settle for the delicious food! I am looking forward to the outdoor seating when the weather...

I value my hard earned money 💰. My Girlfriend and I wanted to try somewhere new and support a small local business. We were the 5th table of 2 . 3 of witch had already eaten there meals and were on their way out. The other table already ordered. We ordered our drinks and meal soon as we were seated since we had looked at the menu before we decided to try it out. I ordered the jerk-seasoned sirloin burger, that comes with cabbage slaw, tomato, and lettuce and I asked for onion rings for my side. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tenders with fries. The waitress didn't write down our order. Which is likely why I got fries instead of onion rings. Then the kitchen staff made a plain burger instead of a jerk burger with no cabbage slaw and I got fries that were soggy. When it came out I told her that it was the wrong burger. She asked what I meant and I told her there was no cabbage slaw on it and no jerk seasoning. She asked if a side would help I said yes please. My girlfriends chicken tenders were cold and dry almost as if they had pre-cooked them and attempted to reheat them when they...

Walking into Flame Jamaican Cuisine felt like stepping straight into a warm Jamaican hug, right here in New Hampshire. Conrad, Chris, and Lee have done something special - they've brought a slice of Jamaica to us, and it's as authentic as it gets. From the get-go, their vibes were all about making us feel at home, like we were old friends catching up over some seriously good food. And let me tell you, the place has a vibe that just sets you up for a fantastic meal. Now, onto the good stuff - the food! We dove into the Rasta Pasta, and it was like a flavor bomb went off – creamy, spicy, and just downright delicious. The Jerk Chicken? Oh, it was the real deal, with just the right kick and smokiness. But the showstopper was the Curry Goat – tender, flavorful, and had us savoring every bite. They don’t skimp on portions either, so you get that generous Jamaican hospitality on your plate. We were so wowed by the taste that we ended up taking more home for dinner. Big shoutout to Conrad, Chris, and Lee for bringing this gem to our doorstep. Honestly, it’s one of the best meals I’ve had in a long while.

NOT AUTHENTIC JAMAICAN FOOD. I decided to make the drive after seeing all the positive reviews, but unfortunately, this was the worst Jamaican food I've ever had. Nothing about the flavors or preparation felt authentic. While the oxtail was tender, it lacked the signature Jamaican spices and flavor. The stew was a light brown color, which is very different from the rich, deep color you'd expect from a true Jamaican restaurant, and it was mostly bones. The rice was incredibly bland and tasted as if an excessive amount of sugar had been added. I received a few slices of plantains and most of it was burnt. I did not order fries but found a half piece of fries in my plantains. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Also, No Jamaica or black servers/ workers on site. You wouldn’t know it was a Jamaican restaurant without the aesthetics.

This place is a hidden Gem, everyone needs to know about and try it out for yourselves! My first time going to the Flame! we had jerk chicken wings, my husband had ribs and i had jerk chicken. This was an amazing meal! The wings were spicy but full of flavor! the ribs were off the bone melt in your mouth bursting with goodness! my jerk chicken, one my favorite meals was out of this world loved the crunchy crust on the chicken! beans and rice had a sweetness flavor to them, and the cooked cabbage was so good i could just come back to eat that alone! can not wait to come back to try the Bammy bread and jerk seasoned fish! see you guys again real soon! loved it!
