Food - We ordered the sampler platter to-go, and as an avid amateur pitmaster I felt they cooked the meats to perfection. The brisket & pork were super juicy and tender but could have been more flavorful. I think the tacos & sandwiches might have been better where the flavor could be boosted by sauces. The greens were our favorite part of the meal. My child and I loved the cornbread but my wife felt it was a little salty. We liked the creaminess of the buttermilk slaw, but felt it could have benefited from a little apple cider vinegar or aromatic seasoning to give it a little something extra. Detailed meat review below for BBQ enthusiasts.
Vibe - this was a fun place - love their branding, dining area was spotless and inviting, and the staff was nice. They sell a bunch of sauces, rubs, wood chunks for at-home smoking, and a number of Kamado Joe and other BBQ accessories. They also had some local hot sauces, pepper jellies and Kilhaney's pickles. As a part of the local BBQ scene they get an absolute A+
Detailed meat reviews - my first bite of brisket was a corner chunk with bark on 3 sides and a good amount of fat. I was expecting it to burst the flavor - essentially be a burnt end - but the bark didn't have discernible taste. I tasted the perfectly-rendered fat (which takes skill - 2 thumbs up for that) but none of that typical bark "bite." The muscle portion of the meat had good flavor - wasn't "pot-roasty" like some places - but the bark was disappointing. The brisket wasn't cut in slices like many places but I didn't mind. The ribs and pulled pork were similar to the brisket - cooked very well, but could have had a stronger rub profile. The ribs had a great bite-through without being fall-off-the-bone. Our chicken quarter was slightly dry but that might have just been our piece - everything else was cooked perfectly. The chicken rub had some heat which we enjoyed. The smoke profile was mellow on all meats, and was most noticeable on the chicken where it had a mild dirty smoke taste. Overall, I'll come back to try their tacos and sandwiches but won't order the platters again. People who don't cook their own Q might not mind the milder...
Read moreAlmost gave them just 2 stars, but I figure they are newly established and still getting it together. Ordered several sandwiches, full rack of ribs and some sides. Loved the burnt ends. Ribs were undercooked and tough. I cooked them for another couple of hours at home and they turned out very good. Out of 3 sandwiches, only 1 made it into the bag. I called and received a refund for the sandwiches, but I was really looking forward to the brisket and pulled pork. Cornbread was OK. Slaw needs some work. Curly fries were good but light. Sweet potato fries were good. I will go back, at least to try the brisket and pulled pork. Not sure I want to spend that much time on recooking ribs though.
I did go back for the brisket sandwich, the pulled pork sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich. Loved all 3. Their curly fries are very good and the sweet potato fries not bad. It is a must stop, when you...
Read moreStart with the good..what we ordered had exceptional flavors. We ordered the chicken tacos, black cherry brisket sliders and curly fries- was delicious once reheated. We ordered delivery with an estimated delivery time of 6:50-7:10. We got a call saying the delivery driver was running late 20 minutes due to an accident(we live less than 2 miles away local roads). We called to inquire at 7:40 to ask if we should just come pick up the order, they said it was out for delivery. It arrived at 8:00pm. Everything was cold obviously. We heated up the food which was still great. The tacos, an order of three, had 2 without filling- just sauce. We called to convey our frustration with the tacos and they were so gracious and said they would not charge. All in all, delicious food- just need to work out a few kinks, normal for a new business. We look forward to going back and eating...
