My husband and I were craving some of our favorite Thai dishes so we decided to visit Kuay Tiew. We don’t live nearby but had eaten at this establishment on another occasion and despite the 40 minute driving distance from our home, we were eager to visit again. After entering the restaurant we stood at the host desk waiting for a man (whose back was turned to us) to assist us with seating. Shortly thereafter, a young lady came over from the other side of the restaurant to notify the man (who was still turned the other direction and focused on a tablet screen) that customers were standing behind him. We asked for a table for two and this man (who appeared to be the manager) refused to seat us, gesturing to a sign that said that the “last seating of the night is 8:15”… at this moment it was 8:18. YES. 3 minutes past the arbitrary “last seating time” and 42 minutes before the restaurant’s closing time of 9:00pm. Nowhere on the restaurant’s website, Google listing or hours does it say anything about a “last seating time”. Everywhere, the closing time is listed as 9:00pm. My husband and I are not the type to walk into a restaurant 15 minutes before closing and ask to be seated, as that would be very inconsiderate to the staff. However, it is more than reasonable for two people to order and finish their meals well within a 42 minute time period. My husband told the man that we already knew what we wanted to order and would be able to order immediately. He still refused to seat us, claiming that “it’s over” the staff are already “done and hanging out now” and there was “nothing he could do”. This made no sense as there were other customers sitting in the dining room eating. Who was waiting on these customers if the staff were all “done and hanging out”? Also what kind of establishment would have the staff “hanging out” for the last 45 minutes of their shift? Wouldn’t they rather be making money by waiting on tables? After several minutes of dialogue with this incredibly rude and unreasonable man, we left and went to another restaurant. We were able to drive to Bridgewater, find a parking space, be seated, place our order and finish all of our food before Kuay Tiew’s actual closing time of 9:00pm. To think of unceremoniously turning away paying customers in this economic climate is astounding. I guess they don’t need our business… or yours.
We were cheerfully greeted at Thai Kitchen in Bridgewater where we enjoyed an excellent meal with wonderful service. Their Pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea were some of the best we’ve ever had. I highly recommend them as an alternative to Kuay Tiew; you won’t be...
Read moreI’m going to start by saying this place was my favorite of all, the food is amazing and I used to loved coming here. However the last two times I’ve been there I can tell that it’s not very baby friendly. I went with my baby for my birthday in September and let me say my baby did not made a sound. It was when I was about to put him on his stroller the owner literally took the stroller from me placed it close to the exit and said to me put it here. As a new mom you will be upset. However I didn’t came back until last Friday 01/12/2023. He saw me coming in with the stroller and right away said no seats you need reservations nothing until 8:30 which I know for fact that’s when they take their last sitting and last order for the kitchen, I’ve been going there for almost five years. What they did not know was that my husband called right away and he got a reservation for 7:30 literally half hr of us getting there he said nothing to 8:30. As I was walking out a family of five walked in. He sat them down (they did not had a reservation because I asked them outside if they had one they said no) so I patiently waited to see if they will get turned out. To my surprise they didn’t I saw him looking over the tables to see where they will be sitting when I walked back into the restaurant and let him know how I felt about it he said he will turned them away. That was not my intention it was his wrongful actions towards us because we had our baby that made me walk in there and told him how I felt since I’ve been almost a five year customer eating there and ordering take out many times a month. I used to loved coming here again the food is delicious and there are amazing waiters there. HOWEEVR IT IS NOT...
Read moreHow I can tell if a Thai restaurant is good is by their Pad Kee Maow. I ordered it the first day I had takeout here, and it was packed with delicious Thai heat! They asked what level of spice I wanted, and I told them level 8. If your looking for something with heat definitely order it! It usually comes with wide noodles, but when I ordered it was the first few days of the Cova-19 shutdown. They couldn’t get a delivery from NYC for the wide noodles during that time so they replaced it with the rice noodles they use for the Pad Thai. For appetizers I had the Keaw Tod (fried wonton) and the Tod Mun Pla (Thai fish cake). Keaw Tod is usually one of my favorite Thai appetizers, but here I just thought it was ok. It didn’t have much of a cream cheese flavor which makes it really good. The Tod Mun Pla was good! The dipping sauce made it tasty! The other dinner I had here was the Pad Thai which was very good! My favorite dish so far here is the Pad Kee Maow! For desserts I had the Kuay Tiew Roti with Nutella and a dessert special they had Sticky Rice with Mango Roti. The Muay Tiew Roti with Nutella was good, and the Sticky Rice with Mango Roti was delicious! It sounds different, and I never would of thought I would of liked it so much! You have to try it! It’s a really nice restaurant on the inside, and they have some outdoor sitting as well. Everyone here is really nice too! I recommend Kuay Tiew Noodles...
