FEB. 2024 UPDATE Picked up some cutie pies this time, which were $4 each. The size is good if you want to try multiple flavors, but I feel like you get more bang for your buck if you pay $9 for a 5" pie instead.
Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Cutie Pie ($4): Very thick, rich, and chocolate forward (so much so that I didn't taste any of the pecan flavor). The texture of the filling was almost like that of an undercooked brownie. Wasn't bad but probably not something I would get again because of how heavy it was; I'm glad I only got a cutie pie because it would have been hard to finish more than this. Mixed Berry Cutie Pie ($4): Mixed berry but I only tasted blueberries. Tasted like a classic pie. I liked the crumble.
Overall, both pies were satisfying, but I enjoyed the brown butter pecan pie that I got last time more.
FEB. 2024 I had Petsi Pies bookmarked for a while, and it happened to be across from where I was, so I decided that today was the day I would cross it off my list.
I got in 20 minutes before closing, but there is no seating inside, so I would not have been able to dine in anyway. It was empty at this time, and most of the pastries on display were gone. The pie of the month (chocolate cream pie) sounded yummy, but I wasn't feeling chocolate at the time, so I went with the pecan pie. I actually wanted the chocolate bourbon pecan pie, which is one of the signatures according to the website, but I didn't realize there was also a brown butter pecan pie. Saying only "pecan pie" netted me the brown butter one, so learn from my blunder if you are also going for the chocolate bourbon.
However, I don't think it is accurate to call this a blunder, as I really enjoyed the brown butter one. The candied pecans had a delicious, sticky chew. The pie shell was crispy and buttery. The inside was sweet and gooey; the texture reminded me of Hong Kong egg tarts.
This flavor is definitely decadent enough to satisfy a sweet craving, so I was only able to eat half. $9 for this size was reasonable, considering a slice of pie at a restaurant usually costs $12+. Overall, I am glad I picked up a pie, and I am excited to try more in the future, including the chocolate bourbon pecan pie that I...
Read moreStay away from this place on Thanksgiving. They are making their clients pay for their incapacity of handling the situation. Last year, when taking preorders, they didn’t have the adequate number of pies, so clients had to line up for pies they ordered and paid, plus they weren’t even sure to go home with one. Super improvement this year: two days prior to Thanksgiving, clients had to line up for HOURS in the cold while receiving confusing updates (« no more pies », « more of this particular pie » etc) and ending up not having the desired flavor or no pies at all. Solutions are definitely there and not that difficult, but it shouldn’t be the client suggesting how to run their business. It is just, in my sense, disrespectful. The pie is nothing you would expect. I ended up with a pumpkin one; the dough wasn’t well cooked (still raw at the inside part), there was no equilibrium at all in the taste: way too sugary and not well spiced. None of our guests liked it, nor finished their slice. They choked their water after learning this pie was obtained after being queuing and in exchange for that...
Read moreDecent pie place. Can be inconsistent with their pie quality. One year so so. The next year absolutely amazing! I really want to support local businesses but their customer service and lack of consistency means I’ll be looking elsewhere for pies. If you’re doing online orders make sure you show up the day scheduled. was deathly ill and forgot to grab my pies. Showed up four days later hoping for some mercy and was bluntly told that the pies were given away (understandable) but also that I would need to pay for my pies again and that if I had issues with paying again I should take this up with my credit card. I can understand this point of view. I said I would show up and I didn’t. The analogy I was given was I paid for a steak and did t show up. Sure. But it’s also a good way of torching a long term customer relationship. Which is what happened here. I debate between Petsi and Tatte and split my orders this year. I won’t be coming back to Petsi and will be going to Tatte for the future — which makes a...
