The surprisingly good arrival of the little crepe cafe
A review by Camron firouzbakht
Think of a small cozy little neighborhood with a park and a school. Think of this neighborhood as a place of many people. Just three weeks ago a new cozy shop came to our neighborhood it fit its surroundings perfectly. The outside looked futuristic and the inside looked comfortable and cozy. The place just looked sweet. This place was called the little crepe cafe.
As soon as the opening day came around I could barely wait till school ended. The time came around and I went into the shop we ordered our crepes and chatted with the funny kind staff members and Kamil the owner. I remember it being so mesmerizing to see them spread out the batter to make the outside that held the whole thing together. When the time came around my breakfast crepe was ready, I held the plate hypnotized. The crepe looked, first-class! I took it to the table and bit in. the creamy eggs bacon and spinach made my mouth heavenly. The food was so scrumptious. I quickly finished it. This was very surprising to me since when I went to Italy I had a bad crepe that gave me a bad idea of what they were like. It was weird and squishy and tasted bad. It gave me a bad impression of crepes. But now the impression shrank away. Every day after school I went there and had their different crepes and waffles all five star.
The shop is on oxford street Cambridge MA my house is right behind it. I would give this place a five-star review (which I have) the food is delicious and the staff was incredibly kind. I have to give a shout out to Arthur the main chef for taking my recommendation to add hashbrowns to the menu. THANK YOU LITTLE CREPE CAFE AND WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD (;
By the way this is cam again I live right behind...
Read moreShort version is that the crepes were not very good, the owner/manager was defensive and mean to the staff, and the manager made a purposeful food safety mistake by knowingly giving a crepe that I touched with my bare hands to another customer. They also did not give me what I ordered. Would recommend you try a different crepe place.
Long version: Immediately upon entering, noticed that the woman in charge was being harsh and condescending to the two workers helping out that day. Ordered the house special and Parisian. When I got the first crepe I opened it with my fingers to see what it looked like, I noticed that it wasn’t what I ordered. The manager immediately noticed and scolded the waitress for delivering me the wrong crepe. The waitress grabbed the crepe from the table and the manager asked if I had touched it, I said yes. She shook her head but watched and allowed the waitress to deliver the crepe to another customer. I was shocked and super uncomfortable. I should have said something but I didn’t. When I got my correct crepe, I noticed that the red onions were missing. I gently asked the woman in charge and she was instantly defensive, telling me that other customers always asked for it to be removed and so they don’t include it anymore. Then she said there were white onions in the crepe. There were no onions. I decided to let it go because I didn’t want to deal with her energy. The crepe was not a good crepe. The filling was fine but the crepe itself was very dry and more like a tortilla than a soft eggy crepe. The Parisian was also bad. Basically just butter and granulated sugar. Was expecting lemon curd or some more...
Read moreUpdate: Came back over a year later and the operational issues still haven’t been solved sadly. It seems like they desperately need to hire more staff. This time, it took us over an hour - yes, an hour! - to be served 2 crepes and a coffee. And the orders were wrong and the coffee never arrived! The owner was taking the orders, making the coffees and making the crepes while his friends stood around in a corner chatting with each other. I really did want to support this cafe because the food is great and the owners seem like nice people but this model simply isn’t workable sadly. We unfortunately won’t be back. You might need to pass on the delicious crepes unless you have several hours to spare …
Blown away by the quality of these crepes - was just expecting a quick breakfast snack but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious these were. The owners clearly care deeply about their craft and it shows in the quality of the food & coffee. We tried 3 crepes: Second Breakfast, Classic & Brie Delight - and they were all wonderful. The crepes were the perfect thickness, mix of crispy but soft - will definitely be back! Only downside was that we went in at an odd time - Fri AM when they were very busy with delivery orders - so had to wait 20+ min for our crepes but I suspect that was due to our timing and wouldn't be the same when they're staffed up for...
