I'd love to give the Foothills Cafe five stars for breakfast but....
My wife ordered the special--the Poblano Omelette for breakfast. The omelette was overloaded with onions (so were the potatoes). She's convinced the cook used an entire onion in the meal. The cheese was not melted and the mushrooms (along with the onions) overwhelmed the Poblanos. If you're going to have a Poblano special omelette, make sure the Poblanos are the star of the plate.
My wife's toast was burnt on one side. She flipped it over and the server said nothing. Yep. They're ok with serving their guests blackened, burnt toast.
Finally, less than 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, my wife got the worst stomach pains. Whatever she ate, did a total number on her digestive tract for the rest of the day (and the next).
My breakfast burrito was ginormous. I bought the three meat burrito ($11) and it was 80% potatoes in a tortilla. Not impressed.
We won't be back...
Read moreI have been to a great many small towns across America and I decided to settle in one, The City of Sonora. The Foothills Cafe is a great diamond in this city's crown. It is perfect, primarily because it's great home cooking at low prices. Not to mention the service is phenomenal and the place is neat and small. Being from NYC I wanted to keep this a secret, however I cannot. It is deserving of a rave review. This place for lack of better words is "F#*king Amazing!". The only downside is that it is right next door to my gym.... so I have to avoid it on occasion. Yet, I can never forget the amazing biscuits, eggs and steak I had there one sunny afternoon in the winter. Thank you Foothills Cafe, I will not forget you and you have not seen...
Read moreHow do you screw up a biscuit and gravy? Go to Foothills CafĂ© and find out. I donât know why lazy people cook food professionally and think theyprice it at average cafe rates. I paid almost $30 for a lame mimosa, two eggs, four pieces of average bacon and some weird chalky chopped up biscuit under a fog of the worst gravy Iâve ever had. The waitress was lovely and attentive, but the plates she was slinging were absolutely abysmal. As the place on the way out of town, for tourists it would be the perfect stop for really good Benedict and (better) mimosas. You canât serve Cooks and ask for $10, sorry not sorry. Place is cluttered with signage trying to be cheeky but really not a cave of clutter I...
