What an amazing step back in time with the amenities that rival any modern 5 star hotel/resort. From the moment you arrive to the time you depart, gracious hospitality exists. The rooms are well appointed with fine linens, bedding and the towels are WONDERFUL! The property is stunningly beautiful. I could have spent days upon end trying to take in all the furnishings and decor of the home. The owners who are also the hosts are incredibly friendly as they share the history of the home...and what a history there is! I highly suggest staying in the Segerstrom suite that has a wonderful balcony for a late afternoon glass of wine while you take in the views. The property is located on a quiet road above the quaint town of Sonora. There is a selection of restaurants and shopping within just a few minutes of the Inn. Do not skip out or miss the breakfast at the Inn. It is well planned out, filling and so scrumptious. I am not a breakfast person and totally enjoyed not only the time to share conversation with other guests but also savored each bite...the German pancakes, Aebleskivers with raspberry sauce (served that morning), are worth every calorie. It should be noted that this is an older home built in 1927 that has been renovated to preserve the beauty of those times with a touch of modern amenities. Also, there are stairs that need to be navigated in the event you may have some...
Read moreI do my research before visiting and the reviews and pictures did NOT disappoint. The Inn on Knowles Hill was the PERFECT retreat for our overnight in Sonora. Greeted right away by a variety of cats lounging near the entry way, and ducks from the nearby pond. My husband and I embraced the warmth and familiarity of this lovely place. The Inn has a handful of themed rooms based on the history of who’s stayed there (e.g. Herbert Hoover). Excellent communal spaces for gathering with friends, whether downstairs or on the shared balcony between the C.H. Segerstrom and Herbert Hoover rooms. Attention to detail from room to room was impeccable. Rooms were stocked with necessities and overall very comfortable spaces to relax and unwind.
My favorite part about staying was the 2-course gourmet breakfast served in the main dining room at 9:00am. Starting with poached pears, with a fresh raspberry sauce, toasted almonds (dessert first!). Then moving on to the most amazing eggs Florentine (seriously the best), homemade sausage and French toast. Rhonda is an amazing chef. I’m sad every morning doesn’t start this way! Wait, I’m coming back... save me a seat!
Thank you Rhonda and staff for the wonderful hospitality! We truly look forward to our return....
Read moreWhere to begin with the wonderful, unique and eclectic Inn on Knowles Hill. The short version of our weekend stay is this hotel is a trip back in time and an experience for the senses. From the interior design, furnishings and vintage everything to the delicious breakfasts, it truly was a fantastic and unique experience.||Rhonda and Fred are the proprietors and have created a one of a kind place to stay in the California foothills. Most, if not all, of the furnishings and items in the house are from the 1920's and early 1930's. I won't tell the tale, but you should ask Rhonda about where the furniture came from - it's a great story.||We stayed in the Earl Warren room which faces east and created a wonderful sunrise as it came up over the hills each morning. Breakfast is included and Rhonda is as much a wonderful chef as she is interior designer and storyteller. Don't miss breakfast and her stories about the history of the house.||All in all a wonderfully unexpected stay and looking forward to a...
