Fat Boys Creamery — Restaurant in South Bend

I don’t even post positive reviews. But the Customer service here was so phenomenal, I had to write this. After a long week, my Wife and I needed to get out and do something special. She found an ice cream shop within 3 min with all too positive reviews. We decided to go and bring our 7 month old daughter and see if this was good.

When we walked in the owner complemented our daughter and gave her a free scoop of ice cream. Granted she is so adorable she makes the Gerber Baby feel jealous. (Not biased or anything). But not only did he treat us with incredible hospitality, he treated everyone who walked in with great enthusiasm and warmth. Even the other workers were equally incredible. And we haven’t even gotten to the ice cream.

We were planning on going to Dairy Queen or some other place near by and I’m glad we tried something new. The ice cream was so good I doubt you’ll find better. When we go back, we’ll hope they sell it by the gallon. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen such hospitality. I wish the owners and workers much success. I hope you do well at Ball State and IUSB though with what I saw I doubt you need it. This was an easy 5 Stars.

I had a terrible experience at this ice cream shop. When I arrived, the employee wasn’t even at the window, so I had to stand out in the snow waiting for someone to show up. When the guy finally came to take my order, I asked for a banana split because I’d checked online and saw they had a ton of flavors available. To my surprise, they didn’t even have a quarter of what was advertised — almost everything was unavailable.

When it came to making the banana split, I felt like I had to explain how to make it because they just threw together ice cream and bananas with no toppings. I even asked for toppings, and the guy acknowledged me, but instead of adding them, he packed my order in a bag and handed it to me. For $9, the least they could do is make it properly.

The only thing the employee managed to do was take my money, and that’s about it. After standing in freezing weather for this mess, I’m incredibly disappointed. I would not recommend this...

Edit: I have finally visited this place in person instead of having it delivered. First, I was saddened to see the menu had changed BUT they still have the amazing ice cream I have come to love!!! The woman who waited on me was amazing!!! She was friendly and social and told me about all the new and beautiful updates that had been made to the store. She was knowledgeable on all the flavors offered and made several suggestions that I can say I am truly pleased with!!! I will definitely be making more in-person visits.

I have ordered from here several times in the last few months and everything I have gotten has come out just excellent!!! Tonight I got their cheesecake with strawberries and blueberries. It was creamy, thick and perfect!!! And let me just say I am the pickiest when it comes to cheesecake!!! My first round pick would be the Chicken bowl and ANY FLAVOR of ice cream!!! I CAN NOT WAIT for their smashburger restaurant...
