We stopped in on a whim on one of the soft opening days as it is in the neighborhood. The decor was more understated than Cloud Walking, which was a good stylistic choice, giving due regard to the industrial building in which it is located. On the whole, though, the blood and occult-ish theme felt a bit grim and had too much of an edge to it. The red-toned countertops and preternatural art made for a less-relaxing ambience than I had hoped for. Visiting during Halloween week was fun because it felt seasonally-appropriate, but that kind of ambience is not something we cared to experience on a daily basis.
One member of our group ordered one of the popular selections, a latte with cinnamon, and she said it was the best latte she had ordered in years, which is high praise from someone who knows coffee well. I had the “corntado,” which was an abomination and utterly undrinkable. When placing the almost-full drink on the dish tray, we saw another almost-full corntado sitting there.
The s’mores bites were fine. They tasted rather unbalanced, with the dark chocolate overwhelming the rest of the flavors.
