Horrible experience. The worst I've ever had at any bar or club.
I came out to Finnies for a friend's birthday. Once I came up to the entrance the guard, I believe his name was RJ, (Mixed race, freckels and wore a brown beanie, with khaki overalls)
He let me know that plain white tee shirts were not allowed. I asked "Really?" As I was unaware of this, but it isnt a big deal. The guard replies "Yes" and nods I say "Ok" and return to my car to see if I have something to wear over my shirt. I return and walk on the outside of the guard rail to ask the guard if it was OK if I wore something like a jacket or hoodie over my shirt.
As I approach, the guard is shutting me out and won't even make eye contact as I walk over to ask.
I proceed to ask politely. He becomes very annoyed and replies, "Well you could, but you're gonna take it off once you start getting warm in there, and the problem is my staff are TRAINED TO MAKE YOU LEAVE IF YOURE WEARING A WHITE SHIRT"
Before I could even reply to that, he then claims that I "caused a ruckus" inside. I give him a confused look, and then he says, "YEA, THOSE FRIENDS YOU JUST CALLED ARE CAUSING A RUCKUS"
I didn't call anyone to tell them to make a ruckus whatsoever.
I proceed to tell the guard, "I didn't call anyone, or tell anyone to make a ruckus" He sarcastically says "Yea", rolls his eyes, and ignores me. After that I just walked away back to my vehicle.
Finnies used to be one of my favorite spots to come out to. I missed out on my friends golden birthday. I will not...
Read moreJust experienced the most heart breaking situation. If could give zero stars I would. I took my friend out for his birthday and a couple of my other friends had went in line to get in before us. The security denied them at the door because âthey did not have their student identificationâ. Afterwords the security was going to let us in without any student identification. My friend told the security they were with us and he all of a sudden didnât want to let us in. He was obviously picking and choosing, and it so happened that our other friends were black. I was talking to the owner who was standing outside about the situation, and he obviously didnât care. As I was talking to him about it all my friends from out of town walked in with no student identification what so ever, and they are from out of town, and donât go to college. He claims they were regulars when they have never been to finnies before. It was obviously discrimination at its finest and it was just very sad in general. After I was respectfully talking to the owner, the security turned around being hostile and asked me if âhe comes to my job to tell me how to do it.â Very unpleasant situation and ruined my friends first night in South Bend on his birthday. I will definitely never walk foot in this building again. As for the owner, I hope you donât have to go through what we...
Read moreExpensive drinks served in cheap plastic cups, shots are served in plastic cups youâd put ketchup in at a restaurant, they charge for water (donât know of any other bar in the area that does that), upstairs with the pool tables/air hockey is hardly ever open, security is ruder than any other establishment in town (even Brothers, and thatâs saying something), and you need a student ID to get in after 11pm (even on the Saturday after thanksgiving when lots of students are out of town). Place was half empty and still got denied entry due to lack of student ID. To top it all off, they have the audacity to charge a cover to get in. They used to be my favorite spot in town years back, but doubt Iâll ever return. They want to be a high class club, but theyâre far from that. Despite being located in south bend, there are still better options to spend a night out...
