So after my last experience this past winter, wasn't sure if I was going to return, even after getting a $10 off business card for the terrible service. Last time I placed 2 orders almost totaling $50, 1st one came out, was told the other would be out shortly, half hour later, still no order, while other order is getting cold, I ask what is going on, was told that ticket got lost, that they will put a rush on it, so I start eating part of 1st order, which is wrong, so 1st order gets sent back to be remade, 2nd order finally comes out, when the remade order finally came out, I have now invested an hour and a half of my damn time. Owners girlfriend gave me the $10 off card, which I stuck in the back of my wallet, while rummaging through my wallet today, I found the gift card, which is like 9 months old, decided to give them another shot, since they have 5☆ food, but today, almost as bad, it was about 2:30 and not busy at all, but for a simple bacon double cheeseburger and cheese fries, 50 minutes later, I'm just now getting my food, as busy as it was, which wasn't very busy at all, it should have taken no longer than 20 minutes. My intuition of throwing that damn gift card in the trash was spot on. Guess I shouldn't have pre tipped on my card, because no tip was deserved either time. Not sure why the service is so much better on Western Ave, food is more on point, on Michigan St, but can't see going again, after receiving 1☆ service after the last 2 attempts. Only reason I ate at the Western Ave location was I used to have a FedEx route in the area. Guess mo more Linden Grill for me,...
Read moreWe had a great experience. We had lunch with two toddlers, which can be a trying task for any restaurant's wait staff. Our waitress was delightful, extremely accommodating of the kids, and struck a great balance of attentiveness and letting us decide on food and tend to the kids.
My burger was fantastic, and the basic crinkle-cut fries were a good addition. Great value, too - I think my burger, fries, and drink were all of $8.50.
My good food and the excellent service balanced out a few things that were not necessarily perfect. The kids' food had pretty clearly come straight from the freezer; I know that restaurants need to rely on a fair amount of pre-cooked food, but a bit of effort to at least cut down on the pre-made appearance goes a long way. I also think the ambience could use a bit of updating - actually, a bit of stripping it down would help. Carpet and fluorescent lights aren't exact conducive to a memorable experience, and neither are news shows on TVs in the seating area (the bar is a different story, of course). That's not really a complaint but just an aesthetic preference - it just felt a little office-ish to me.
Ultimately this was a very good experience and I'd recommend Linden Grill to anyone. There are some things I would change, but then again some people would notice the same things and not even be bothered by them. If you're looking for a great, no-frills meal, this is...
Read moreI must start by saying we ended up here by pure happenstance. We have been looking for a good diner experience and read reviews that led us to think this would be that type of place, but we were wrong. We were pleasantly surprised, though, as well.
This is definitely NOT a diner and, in my personal opinion, is better defined as a BAR and GRILL. That being said, the food was awesome , a bit pricey, but worth it.
The atmosphere does feel like it has a target crowd, and locals/regulars are definitely treated differently than a newcomer.
When we first walked in, it took a few minutes before we were acknowledged and advised to sit anywhere we would like. About 4 minutes after we sat, we were finally greeted and provided menus. After that, everything just kept getting better.
Our waitress was OUTSTANDING. She was polite, friendly, attentive, and refilled our drinks promptly.
We had 2 double cheeseburgers and fries which was the daily special, 1- 10piece chicken wing meal with fries, 1 order onion rings, 1 order cheese fries, 1 order fried pickles, 4 drinks and 1 water and it was $74.32 not including the tip.
All the food was seasoned perfectly, hot and fresh. The wings are some of the best we have had in a long time. We will be back for .99 cent wing Wednesday for sure.
Thank you for making our family...
