For a diner that offers a coffee menu they have a lot to learn about serving a good cup of coffee. The tepid liquid was barely discernible as coffee. Even after they attempted to warm it, it was hardly above room temperature. Coffee was all I had and I would not return for another cup. The sandwiches looked tasty and generous, but as a place to stop in for a cup of coffee and a bakery treat, no. I stand by my review of the coffee I was served. As the owner pointed out in his response, there was miscommunication. I wanted a medium to dark roast coffee served hot, and that was not what I recieved. If the server had been able to properly describe what an Americano Coffee was, I would have gladly accepted that. Hopefully, it would have been served hot. I did not ask for a watered down cup of cold drip coffee. Because it is probably unfair to rate a resturant based on one cup of coffee, and because the owner responded; I am upgrading to 3 stars. Overall, I found the establishment to be pleasant...
ย ย ย Read moreI Recently had the opportunity to dine at Southern Plenty in downtown South Boston, Virginia. Despite the busy breakfast crowd, our party of 9 was accommodated without hesitation. I can't say enough about the great service and nice staff! The food was exceptional! I ordered cream cheese stuffed French toast with bananas and bacon. It was not too sweet with just the right amount of syrup. Scrumptious! ๐ My side of hash brown casserole was the best I had ever eaten and I particularly liked the fact that you could help yourself to refills at their coffee station. Vegan choices are also available as a menu option. The cafe's warm relaxing atmosphere greets you as you come in the door. Southern Plenty was under new management (Leah) when we had our wonderful experience. I'm eager to taste future, exquisite and delectable dishes Leah and her staff will have to offer at this charming and unique...
ย ย ย Read moreWeโve been staying with our Aunt, who is on hospice in Chase City, and decided to venture out today in search of some real food, since options are few and far between around here. We heard about Southern Plenty and decided to check it out โ and we are SO glad we did!
The prices were amazing, and the food was truly real and fresh. The chicken salad was phenomenal, loaded with walnuts (my favorite!). For my side, I chose the pickled beets with goat cheese โ such a unique option, and absolutely delicious. I even added some of the beets and goat cheese to my chicken salad sandwich, and it ended up being the best sandwich I've had in a long time.
I highly recommend the Blue Moon iced latte as well โ it was the perfect finishing touch to a fantastic lunch that really lifted our spirits during a difficult time. If Iโm ever near South Boston again, I will definitely be...
