Dairy Dell — Restaurant in South Boston

I am a NC native and I stopped by to review the hotdogs. I was very impressed by the quality of the hotdog. There was only one option, looked to be close to NC's redhots, and was very delicious. Size and breading was on point. I ordered my typical chili-cheese and onion special. The chili, cheese, and onions were very good. You can tell it was very fresh.

The only issues I had with the hotdog was the cheese. The type of cheese was very strong and unfortunately, there was too much. It really made the second hotdog hard to eat because of the overpoweredness of the cheese. The quality was there, just a bit too heavy on that cheese to where it made it feel like I was only eating cheese, not the good dog, chili and onions. But overall, really good showing for South Boston. 4 out of 5 for sure!

The other issue I had with the location is cash only. Should be able to do credit these days. Hated having to visit...

Update: Stopped there today and hubby ordered a double cheeseburger and he got one patty(seemed pre-made and not fresh)a slice of cheese, bacon and nothing else. He likes everything in his burger. Very disappointing. Also I ordered the BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and hot sauce. No hot sauce and I am positive BBQ was different. Probably our last visit here. Really good cheeseburger and bbq sandwich. Fries and onion rings were delicious! Less than $20 for all this and a coke. Ice cream sundae and 2 scoops of ice cream almost $11. They were really good, but a little pricey. Prices are not posted on the menu outside. Whatever you pay is reasonable for how good it is!! No indoor seating but a couple of picnic tables were available and it was a beautiful day. Every time we go by, it's always busy, now we see why!! Very basic and nostalgic for...

Old style, Pic up and go drive-in, there is a picnic table and you could eat in the parking lot. Heard someone pick up a call in order. Place to stop when traveling through South Boston. Cheeseburger was like from the backyard. Good clean crisp lettuce and tomato. Hot Dog was good but if you are up in the air about the 2 go for the burger. Large drink, no complaints but way bigger than I thought. Fair prices, cash only, was busy but the line ran smooth, and wonderful service. No reason to settle for a chain fastfood joint when traveling through. Will be my got to spot there for a quick good meal. Don't let a standing line deter you.
