Every time we call an order in, they say 15 minutes. But I always have to wait at least 10 by the time I get there, making it more like 25-30 mins to get the food ready. This time I waited 25 minutes to get there, and still had to wait 10 minutes after being promised "it's almost ready"
We've had items missing from our orders before, no big deal, but I think I'm finally starting to understand why:
If you place a call-in for multiple people, write your order down, because they apparently don't. I walk in, the man at the counter asks what I had. I list off the order, best I can remember, and he goes to get it. Once the food shows up, I check it, and there's no cheese dip, and my wife's entrƩe has onions (I definitely remember ordering cheese dip, and "no onions"). I tell the man there's no cheese dip, and he asks what size it was supposed to be. Like I said, it's like they didn't write the order down at all. Take into consideration the wait time, and it's like they didn't even take my order over the phone. I basically just walked in and placed a togo order. I should be able to place an order OTF, walk in, state the name, and pay. And everything should be correct. When I place an order OTF, it's not my responsibility to be writing it down. Next time I guess I'll record the conversation and play it back to them when I get to the restaurant.
The food is great, always has been at #1 and #2. But the service is lacking severely at #2. I guess we'll start driving the extra 5 mins to #1. Never sat down inside so I cannot comment on the service other than the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe travel often and Iāve never had any food as nasty as we did here⦠when we got seated it took longer than expected to get a waiter then we had to deal with 4 or 5 different people.. I ordered Erickās plate which on paper looked pretty good but I was way off, the chicken tasted like shake and bake with water.. the rice and beans were bland.. my wife ordered a burrito, the shrimp was the best part of her meal the rest I wouldnāt have fed to my dogs and they try to eat hair out of the floor⦠her burrito looked like something from a freezer or something and it stunk.. the cook also forgot her cheese quasdilla and they brought it out almost when we were ready to go.. also I got my food way before my wife, I eat half of my plate and waited around for a couple minutes finally her food comes out..we both didnāt finish our meals so Iām glad one of the million servers we had put a discount on our bill⦠Last but not least there was a few seem to be repeat customers (not sure why they would come after one visit) the servers tended to them far more than anyone else which is unfair.. at our usual Mexican spot they donāt treat us no different from anyone else, weāre all paying customers..
I highly do not recommend this place to anyone, they need to sit down hire new cooks or train their cooks and also train...
Read moreI absolutely love El Conquistador, the original location. So when I had 15ish minutes to kill I was surprised to see there was a second location in the parking lot of where I needed to wait. So I walked in and the maître d greated me I informed her I had a simple Togo order. We walked to the register and I told her my order 1x steak quesadilla. She then turned me over to the assistant manager who finished out my order. I explained I need to kill some time, paid for my food, and left a 100% tip (I regret that now) the place was DEAD. Literally only two patrons that walked in after I did. So I took a seat on the bench and waited. The manager explained it would be 8-10 minutes and that's a reasonable amount of time to wait. But after double that amount of time. I stood up and begin to look around. The manager whom I discovered went back to absent mindedly bussing tables while my food sat on the window. Only after seeing me did a light bulb go off reminding him that he had a to-go order waiting.
He then finished up and grabbed my order, chips and salsa.
I've had worse experiences, but this place shares a name with an excellent restaurant only to fall very short of those expectations.
Next time I'll just stick to El Conquistador #1. š¤·
