After reading some positive reviews on social media we decided to give the pizza a try. Upon arriving at the restaurant we were promptly greeted and seated. Our waitress couldn’t have been more pleasant professional and her service was great. The reason for the low rating was with regard to the food. First of all the antipasto was supposed to have fresh mozzarella, but that wasn’t the case, next we ordered two 16” pizza’s that looked like “bar pies” at best. The sauce was horrible and for being paper thin both pies were undercooked inside. My wife ordered a glass of red which was expensive for what look liked much less than a 5 ounce pour. If that wasn’t bad enough when I received the check which was $75.00 the first item listed was a $2.00 surcharge for using my credit card. We have been to more restaurants than we can count and have never incurred a surcharge for using my credit card EVER!!! This is absolutely absurd and when I brought it to the attention of the manager she mentioned that all Spartanburg County restaurants were charging this fee, when I countered with never being charged the fee she insisted that I had been and just overlooked it on my receipt. Needless to say we won’t...

We are traveling through SC and stopped here for dinner. Since my husband just had hip replacement, we asked for a booth that would be softer than the chairs. The owner was put off by our request and told us we would have to wait, despite empty tables that remained empty throughout our dinner. We waited 20 minutes with other customers being seated, including a couple in booths. She finally sat us, not even offering the wine list or any words at all. We ordered bruschetta and two entrees. We never got the bruschetta, but did get the “complementary” salad that was about 4 bites! Our entrees came out, and we were not impressed. It was obvious that my husband’s lasagna was not fresh made, but reheated with the center still cold. I had the eggplant; it was a good flavor, but very mushy and not pleasant to eat. Then came the check with an already added credit card fee (before we’d even requested to pay by any method). I would typically write this off as a loss and move on, but the owner here was so unpleasant that I felt others should know before spending your money here. She did not seem to appreciate her customers or her staff. I think we would have had a much more enjoyable dinner at...

My family and I have enjoyed eating here for a better part of a year. The food is good. My problem is with the service i had. Our waiter was ok, nothing to brag about by any means. When we received the bill they added gratuity. For a 3 party group. Myself, husband, and daughter. Since we've been going there I have never had it added to my check. Now mind you my husband and I both have worked in the service industry, so we Always tip more than 20%. I asked him if this is something they just started doing. The waiter then replied that this was randomly done by his supervisor and he has no control of who she chooses to add gratuity to. You have got to be kidding me. I have a right mind to contact the Better Bus. Bureau and report them for selective discrimination. Not to make a big scene about it, I asked him to take it off of the check please. The waiter came back and gave us a story about a woman who took him for a free meal. Not my problem and you can't assume that people that look like us are all alike. My husband still left him a $20 tip. Such ignorance! We will never eat there again and I will be urging others who feel like discrimination is wrong to not...

As our first visit to La Taverna, we were attracted by the fact that the restaurant is chef- owned, in addition to recommendations from friends. Our dining experience did not disappoint. While in a strip of businesses, the restaurant is very Italian and cozy inside. The menu selections are more than ample, and the portions are generous. Our server, Morgan, was professionally attentive and ensured a positive dining experience. Our calamari appetizer was good, but not great. It was lightly breaded as it should be, but I think the product and presentation could have been better. However, the quality, flavor, and presentation of our main dishes make me quickly forget the calamari. My wife and I both ordered the scallopini di pollo - she selected the Taverna, and I chose the Gorgonzola option. Both dishes were superb in texture and taste. I must say the Gorgonzola version may have won by a nose! We look forward to returning and sampling other selections on the menu. I would love to see the restaurant offer a dish with squid ink, as I am confident they would perform admirably. A great dining spot all around.

Came in on pi-day(3/14/2024). I was hoping for some kind of pizza special, but they didn't offer any. (No big deal) We were seated right no wait. They brought out bread sticks with the drinks. They were room temperature and hard. So not good .You could tell if they were fresh out of the oven, they would have been good. The for the price of the appetizer it wasn't worth it. I my opinion was skimpy on the portion. The pizza was very good. The crust was NY style thin and crisp. The pasta didn't have a protein, so we asked for chicken. They said it was a $6 up charge. Thinking we would have gotten at least a whole chicken brest for $6, there were maybe 5 to 6 cut-up pieces in the pasta dish. The service was good food came out in a timely manner, but this establishment is a one and done. I don't think we will be giving them another try. There are too many other restaurants in the upstate with better food and prices for me to want to come back.
