I recently tried this place and wasnt impressed. The frying batter had very little seasoning so dont bother ordering anything fried from here. The chicken, fried green tomato, Zucchini and yellow had very little seasoning and were just not good. When the food was placed in the Styrofoam to-go container it was hot enough to melt through, so I probably ate some of the container before noticing.... The BBQ fries were only lightly salted and the pork was decent, but there was no bbq sauce. There was also nothing to bind the slaw, fries, and pork together, so everything just sort of fell apart as you were eating it. Considering they charged me just shy of 40 bucks for a meal and an app, you'd think they'd have more pride in the quality of food they put out. Fast food options are just around the corner and give a more consistent and more affordable option if you're just looking for a fried mess. Growing up in south mississippi, it's sad to see that this is some of what charleston is giving out as their "traditional" southern cuisine. Pic added of the Styrofoam. This is just a poor practice.

When I walked into the restaurant, two ladies greeted me. Later I learned ine was the owner. As I was waited for a friend, I ordered the fried pickles. I was surprised, that it was pickles spears. There was grease to the bottom of the basket however it was tasty. I did not care for the sauce. I ordered the Crab cakes with 2 sides. I had butter beans and collard green along with 2 hushpuppies. I enjoyed the butter bean and Crab cakes. My friend ordered the grill Mahi Mahi with 2 sides. The fish was dry. She did not enjoy the salad and collard greens. She loved the unsweetened and sweeten tea. When informing the waitress of the concerns. She directed us the owner. The owner removed the Mahi Mahi from the ticket. I felt bad because I was paying for the meal this time. We are undecided, if we will try again and try something different. The service was good. The food is average.

Too a chance and ate at this spot last night with the family. We wanted something new but yet country cooking. Looked this place up and checked out the menu and I knew this was gonna be just fine for us. The chicken tenders the kids had were hand battered and the wife's fried green tomato appetizers were amazing she said. I ended up getting the Fat Boy Burger and it was definitely tasty. The sweet tea was also excellent and I only drink it when I go out to restaurants so it's nice to have good sweet tea sometimes. I'll definitely head back to try different things off thr menu. Definitely worth checking out if ya want a good meal and not have to worry about a long wait to get a table. They have been in business now for 9 years and I thought to myself I wish I'd found this place sooner.

This place came highly recommended but I was disappointed. The service was great. The special that my friend and I both wanted was the fried oysters but they only had one serving so my friend got the fried shrimp.

Plate 1- Fried shrimp, smashed potatoes (red potatoes with skin on but little flavor or seasoning), collards, 2 hush puppies and water

All was good except potatoes, healthy portion of shrimp that were lightly buttered and tasty.

Plate 2- friend oyster special, French fries, grilled asparagus, 2 hush puppies and water

Good portion of oysters but they tasted terrible, some tasted like pluff mud and some real gritty. The grilled asparagus was perfectly cooked and deliciously seasoned. Huge boat of thin French fries salted perfectly and good.

Friend wanted to pay but couldn’t find her card so gave me two twenty ($40) to pay for lunch. Got to register and told meal was $46.??. I handed her the forty and realized it wasn’t enough, embarrassed but remembered I had a team in my pocket. She took the fifty and gave me change. I was in so much shock that lunch cost that much I totally forgot about the tip.

When my friend and I left waitress came out to us getting into car and asked if service was good. I’m was mortified that we didn’t leave a tip!

Some food is really good, some okay. Plan to spend higher than normal for lunch. If we had gotten drinks and specials with tip would have been...

If this review were about food alone it would have been a five star review. We came in mid afternoon on Saturday and there were only a couple of other diners. The waitress came to take our order. My mom asked one question about an item on the menu and the waitress points at the menu and said "everything is explained right on the menu", then walks away to go roll silverware. She comes back about ten minutes later to take our order. The food was great. None of us had anything that we didn't like. While we were eating all the other customers left so we were the only ones left in the restaurant. The waitress began to talk to another employee. She talked nasty about several employees and was using nasty, vile language in front of my children. She then began talking about making the schedule so when we paid I asked if she was a manager and she said, "no, I'm the owner." When she rang us up she asked, "did you leave the tip on the table or are you putting it on the card?" That is not how you ask. You should ask, "would you like to leave a tip on the card." I wish we would have had a better experience because the food was good. However, I could not overlook her nastiness or attitude. I feel sorry for anyone that...
