This was my first time personally purchasing a cake from this bakery. I love macaroons and my friend always gets me some from here, so it convinced me to try the bakery for myself. I am not at all pleased with that decision.
I came in a little over two weeks ago with a picture and very specific, but clear details on what kind of cake my daughter wanted for her 13th birthday, which is on 1/21. This is a big deal for my baby girl, a monumental birthday, so she wanted things EXACTLY as she asked for them to be. Since she is a well-behaved, straight A student, who plays several instruments and does her chores without (too much) fuss, I always oblige her.
The cake we received today is different from the picture I brought in, but I did tell the cake designer (who took my order) that she had a bit of leeway on certain things as long as the colors were the same as the cake in the picture, because thatâs the color scheme for the party (black, purple, and silver.)
Imagine my surprise when I picked up the cake today and it was WHITE, purple and silver and had some random fondant stars all over it that werenât in the pictured cake. I have no clue why she added them.
I pointed out the things wrong with the cake and after a 45 minute wait was told by the cake decoratorâthe very same one who took my orderâthat she couldnât fix the issue because she would âhave to, like, completely start over.â Personally, I didnât see a problem with that. I paid several hundred dollars for this cake, you can bet your behind I want it EXACTLY HOW I ASKED FOR IT TO BE. But she was unwilling to fix it or âstart over,â as she phrased it.
I was then informed by another woman that I could either get my money back and get a free pre-made cake of my choice from the bakery or take the hideous cake that I didnât ask for with no discount on the price.
Just to make it plain, in case you too, like me at the time, are feeling pretty confused right now: they were willing to let a cake that cost me several hundred dollars go to waste just to avoid offering a price cut for THEIR error. Nonsensical, right? And poor, extremely poor customer service to boot.
I told them it wasnât about the money, because there is no price tag on celebrating the birth of my one and only daughter. I then called said daughter, who got tired of waiting for 45 minutes and was now in the car. I gave her the option of taking the cakeâ which sheâd made clear through eye-rolling and frowning behind her mask, that she did NOT likeâor having a random cake from inside the bakery, or worse, NO cake at all at her birthday party. She cried and said that sheâd take the cake because she has a lot of friends coming to her party and didnât want them to not have cake.
Long story short, I paid several hundred dollars for a cake that wasnât what I asked for, and also had to come and pick up a day earlier than I needed it because the bakery announced last minute that itâs closing early tomorrow, AND had to deal with the rather dramatic crying of an almost 13 year old girl for the 25 minute drive home.
Extremely poor customer service here. Plus unreliable. I will not be using this bakery again.
Edited to add: the cake/icing itself was extremely bland. The top layer was red velvet, and honestly, the boxed kind I make has ten times more flavor than this one did. Very disappointed and embarrassed that my guests didnât like the cake and threw it away...
Read moreI have been going to Tiffany's at their old location since i arrived from New York city almost 22 years ago. They were in strip mall and proudly displayed all their desserts in display cases reminiscent of the best bakeries in New York city.
So YES, they moved to a bigger location. There ARE going to be growing pains. They have expanded their dining and bakery areas, plus added a bar area.
People complain of long lines but the most popular places will always have lines. In New York you could tell the best places to eat from the bad ones based on the presence of lines of customers waiting to get inside. The better eateries and the best bakeries were ALWAYS crowded with customers.
If you want to find a Cake, Cupcakes or fresh baked goods, this is the place to go. They even sell Freh made Gellato!
I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars because they are suffering from growing pains, like new employees who aren't as helpful as the employees at their former location but I suspect that will change.
The food and baked goods deserve 5 stars but Google doesn't let me review food separate from service and Bad service will sour anyone's palate!
Update: Jan. 10, 2020:
Unfortunately the management has let the reputation of this place get bad.
For instance, the Hours of operation are wrong, as posted on Front door of business. The front door shows OPEN till 9/10pm - varying by weekday. I checked Google before I left home (10 miles away) Google said they were open for another few hours. I went there Thursday, Jan. 9 - And door showed they were supposed to be open till 9pm and we arrived a few minutes after 7pm and were already closed - LIGHTS OUT, NO ONE Home!
(3 hours sooner than displayed on your Front door & on Google). We specifically drove over there because of info on Google and your Front door confirmed we were not wrong.
WHY close early without advertising it? Or letting GOOGLE know?
I called 7:35pm today, Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 and was told they are now closing at 6pm on most nights. So to save others the same frustration I have suggested a Google edit of their hours to 6pm closure, every night - until someone from this bakery corrects their online info. I tried sending them a message thru Google and although someone is supposed to answer quickly, I gave up and ended up calling - Only to be told hours had changed but sign on door was not updated.
Update: Jan. 18, 2020:
Unfortunately this place doesn't make enough of their most popular Cakes and desserts to last thru till Afternoon. So many of their best Baked stuff is sold out by 10am. I wish they would make more of their popular items in the afternoon so I could pick some up on my way home from work!
The hours are still wrong. Google shows early closing hours. I wish this place would do better in advertising their actual hours of operation, especially here on Google reviews. Many people like me check hours of operation before heading to places like this. So best to call if your going here...and complain if their hours don't match up to Google...
Read moreMy daughters 16th birthday was in December. We ordered a quarter sheet cake from this bakery. We picked up the cake and realized once we had lit the candles they had misspelled the word "birthday". They contacted us over the phone and told us that they would send us a voucher for a replacement cake, which was fine with me. I believe in second chances. So, in January I went into Tiffany's with pictures, and filled out another request for a cake with a very nice girl behind the counter. I told her that they could contact me with any questions. They had my husband's info from the last cake order, my phone number from the email I sent regarding the last incident, and my physical address from sending me the voucher. I arrive today to pick up my husband's birthday cake. Upon my arrival I'm told there is no cake! They said that they had a question and couldn't reach me all month. Excuse me?!?! You have all of my contact info minus my social security number, and you couldn't get in touch with me? Meanwhile, there was absolutely no one there to help me. No manager...no bakers....nothing. So, Tiffany's bakery has successfully ruined 2 birthdays for my family in less than two months.
Update: I emailed the manager last night and have yet to even receive any response. I plan on keeping this updated.
Update: I received a response at 10pm the day after my email from the general manager, and after we exchanged emails I decided that a refund would be appropriate, and the general manager agreed to the refund. My husband went in to receive the refund only to have the general manager try to give us yet another gift card. Absolutely not! My husband reminded the general manager ,after showing him the email stating he would refund our money, that we agreed to a refund. At that point the manager gave my husband the refund.
Let me kindly respond to you...we NEVER said the cake was inedible...we said your bakery cannot spell "birthday"....it caused embarrassment for my daughter on one of a young girls most important birthday events...so, the flavor of the cake is not what was in question at all...the incompetence of your bakery was...my husband asked you to produce the order sheet for the replacement cake, which was filled out incorrectly by your associate. You did not have the proper phone number on the order form. As a matter of fact my husband called the number you had written on the form and the lovely gentleman who answered the phone said he received a strange message once, but that was it. So, your called me multiple times story doesn't add up. I truly find it difficult to believe your bakery doesn't track issued gift certificates. If that's the case you need to review that policy, because it could lead to theft. Also, perhaps in the future you should at least consider tracking unhappy customer's gift certificates so "misunderstandings" such as this never occur with...
