When I come to the Carolinas I gotta hit the Waffle House ! I was staying in Cherry Grove and made the drive to this location on September 22nd. My waitress was very friendly and took care of me right away. I sat at the counter for the full experience of watching the cooks and the rest of the staff do their thing. Both the cooks were busy , but seemed to be in good spirits. Only one of the waitresses seemed a little unhappy , but she did refill my coffee once when mine was busy ringing customers up.
I of course got the All Star Special. For the meat I got Country Ham and it was huge and so good. A lot of others were ordering it that day too. Waffle was perfectly cooked with melting butter and good syrup. Grits were thick and tasty the way I like them , scrambled eggs cooked right not overcooked and a good amount of them , toast with strawberry jam , and coffee to top it off. I haven't been to a bad Waffle House , but I've heard of some. I went once to a bad Huddle House , never again. No fights that day either , ha ha. I think everyone was fat and happy with their meal.
I've been to several locations in the Carolinas and the staff always seems to be happy and attentive unlike many restaurants now days especially fast food. This is good food fast. My son and I went to one in Fayetteville , NC years ago for lunch and the burgers were really good too. Most people only think about them for breakfast and late night , but they have lots of choices...
Read moreMy bacon was greasy and dripped grease into my brand new top. Very disappointed but the food was decent. Then there was an employee who questioned a young family about paying their bill. The wife said yes, they did pay as she walked into the restroom but the employee said no, they didn't as she followed the husband and children outside. We interjected saying the wife said yes, they did pay and again, she said no, they didn't. That employee was nasty and we felt that she was targeting them by her responses and her attitude. Fortunately, the gentleman had a receipt. She walked back inside joking about it like it was funny but it wasn't funny at all. We found her behavior to be rude, disturbing and extremely unprofessional. People at different tables were talking about it being an awkward situation. It made us at our table feel uncomfortable. Definitely not the way for a business to handle said situation. It should have been handled quietly, not by announcing it to the entire restaurant. There are a couple of employees at this particular Waffle House who have awful attitudes which is what gives your business a bad name. Thank goodness for the cook and the younger employees. They are friendly and make us feel welcome. Some of these employees could definitely benefit from a refresher course in customer service. And if they are unhappy at their place of employment it is probably time for them to explore...
Read moreOrdered our drinks,(sweet tea), and food, (burgers on toast no mayo and no onions, and a triple order of hash browns with mushrooms, ham, and cheese). Received our tea which tasted horrible, probably had been made prior in the day and was going bad or the tea machine needed cleaned. Was waiting for the waitress to come back to hopefully change out our drinks, but she was otherwise occupied filling ketchup bottles. The cook brought our food and pretty much dropped it in front of us without a word and left to go outside. Upon looking at the food I noticed the hash browns didn't look like a triple but was going to be OK with that. Then I seen our burgers, covered in onions. My husband who can take or leave onions went ahead and ate his and I waited on the waitress to come over to the table so I could return mine. She never showed up, until about 20 minutes later to bring me the bill. I told her I couldn't eat the burger and the tea which was still full in both glasses was undrinkable. Her response was that she could fix me another burger to which I replied no just take it off of the bill. She did remove the burger but not the tea. I could understand the lazy service if the restaurant was busy but we were the only two...
