I was stopping thru this city and didn't plan on going here, but I'm glad that I did! Usually in towns I'm unfamiliar with, I'm in and out. However, once my baby and I walked in, both the atmosphere and the employees put me at ease. The floors, menus, and tables weren't sticky, and the tables were clean.
They were very welcoming and told me to sit where I'm comfortable and they'd be right with me. We ordered and I noticed that as the waitress called out the order, the communication between her and the cook were very clear and polite. Food was hot and came right away.
As I ate, I noticed the lady that cooked my food had her eye on every part of the building. I later learned that her name is DI (Dee) and she's the manager. As she's cooking orders, I heard her ask a customer to assist an elderly man having trouble entering. They're having conversations like family members or friends catching up would. Once the elderly man is seated, and b4 he even orders, DI shows him a slab of bacon indicating that she knows his order and is getting started on it. I was amazed at her level of professionalism, care, and how she remembers these orders for each individual person. Even noting if they tried something different prior.
This place is nice and DI runs a tight ship. I come from a pretty segregated upbringing, but to experience genuine smiles and conversations between black and white people is refreshing to experience. DI has an amazing gift and team and should be compensated for the way that she brings people together in the place. The corporation as a whole would definitely benefit from her traveling around and training other sites. If im passing thru again, I'd definitely stop back by for this great...
Read moreOkay, I could really choose to tear this place a new one if I wanted to, but I don't need to.
The food is like it normally is, I can't complain about it. Waffle House food doesn't change much. It's always pretty good when you're hungry.
Our waitress was probably the most amazing part about the entire ordeal.
She and the cook had been there fourteen hours, and fourteen hours in Waffle House time is fourteen years.
I know they were tired, and I know there was tension because of it. All I want to say to the young man is to please maintain integrity and professionalism in your life going forward. There was no intention in me to give you a record that would follow you forever. You don't deserve that. You do deserve to learn from this, though. You will be held accountable for your actions in your life, and not everyone is half as reasonable as we are and were.
I hope you both got rest after your shifts, and I hope you never have to work that long again. That is ridiculous, and my heart goes out to you both.
To management, what is happening here? Your employees don't deserve to be worked to the point they are ready to explode on anything that moves. I'm blaming all of HIGHER management here. This is atrocious and really pathetic. None of you are paid enough to care about your jobs, but why don't you care about the people beneath you? Some empathy training or replacement would benefit higher management so much.
There is no excuse to abuse your employees and their willingness to work by dangling money in front of them. What a toxic work...
Read moreI've delayed posting this review for weeks not wanting to say anything but enough is enough. I don't live here but work here every fall for 2 months and planned to have breakfast here every morning. It's 6 miles from my place I stay but the closest one. First couple of trips, no problem. Food was good. 3rd trip, only 1 person there. She said I could wait, that the cook was sick and there had to be 2 people there. The manager lives 5 min away and is on way. Manager isn't there 15 min later, so I ask her to call and text her. She does and no response. By that time it's too late for me to go anywhere else so I wait 10 more min, no manager, so I go on to work. Have been by a couple more mornings, same problem. They were not taking customers. Today at 1:15 pm, I decided to give it one more try. I see cars there and think, they're all good today. When I got out of my car, I see a waitress in the parking lot banging her fist on the cooks truck and he's sitting in it and she's yelling at him. I go inside. Several EEs inside and they have put signs on the chairs that were empty saying closed for cleaning. Really? At 1:15 on Sunday afternoon? I don't know what's going on in this place but I won't ever be back. Seems they need a manager to...
