Briana's Pancake Cafe Restaurant — Restaurant in South Elgin

A solid 3 stars from me based on the polar opposite experiences I've had the 2 times I've been here. The first time I had such a great experience. My husband, daughter and I went around 11am on a Sunday. There were tons of seats open which made me nervous. What breakfast joint is empty duting prime Sunday breakfast time? My husband had breakfast. My daughter and I had lunch. All of us were very happy. The food was great and the service was amazing. We vowed to come more often. The next time only my husband and I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Busier this time but still no problem getting seated. We both ate breakfast. My husband said his was only mediocre. Mine I was unable to finish. The last bite I tried to swallow I gagged on. The biscuits and gravy disintegrated in my mouth. Not melt. Disintegrate. The smoked sausage tasted like it was moldy. Just gross. We haven't been back yet for a tie breaker. Frankly I'm too afraid still to give...

I am furious with the experience I had at this restaurant this morning. I placed my order ahead of time thinking it would make things easier—only to show up and be told they accidentally gave my food to someone else. I get that mistakes happen, but what followed was completely unacceptable.

I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for them to remake my order, and when I finally got it—it was still missing items. As if that wasn’t enough, when I called to let them know, the employee on the phone didn’t apologize, didn’t try to help—she immediately started talking back to me with attitude. I asked to speak to a manager and she flat out refused, then hung up on me while I was still talking.

That level of rudeness and complete lack of professionalism is shocking. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully by someone in customer service. Whoever that employee was, she has no business working there. This whole experience was ridiculous and...

When we got there we where seated and waited 20 min before anyone offered water or anything. We then got our side salads with no silverware to eat them with. Then 20 minutes later she was like my bad and finally got us silverware. A hour and 15 minutes passes we finally get our food. I ordered the steak, mind you I don't mind mine being a little rare. But this came out raw and the plate was blood. I couldn't even chew it because it was so gamey. Then 20 minutes later she comes to check how the food is. I explain the situation and she just grabs the food and walks away. Then proceeded to put it on the bill. Then I ask her to correct the receipt. She says one second comes back with the same exact receipt.... spent 2 hours here and they didn't seen to give a hoot. Everyone around was coming about how long they been waiting also. Lastly the place doesn't have ac.. it was hot and that made the irritable situation even...
