I have been to this restaurant twice and it's the kind of place you just want to love, but it unfortunately keeps coming up short for me. To start, there are only a few tables. Ok, no big deal, right? Except there is no waiting area. 😐I didn't think this was even a big deal until I became one of the people waiting. It's incredibly uncomfortable trying not to bump into people attempting to enjoy their meal or have a conversation. You are standing in the middle of the dining room, in between tables, waiting. That must also be uncomfortable for dinners, because they know they are being stalked for their table. Next, they have two tables right next to the single use bathrooms. Again, this shouldn't be a big deal. Except the bathroom doors practically open up into the tables. And it's incredibly uncomfortable when a line starts to form. We were fortunate enough to avoid these table on our first trip, but they were the only ones available the second time. Our waitress got hit by the men's room door and we had to wait for her and the gentleman exiting the restroom to perform a very awkward shuffle At one point she had to lean over out table, so that he could get out of the bathroom, close the door, and move down the short hallway before she could resume taking our order. Mind you, this happened twice. We waited a long time to get our menus, then even longer for the order to be taken (but she was very quick bringing our drinks, except that one missing water), and we had the wrong food delivered to our table before we were finally able to eat. This was about the time I noticed a film on the top of the water and advised my husband to stop drinking it. 🤢 At this point, we are almost an hour into this event...for breakfast. Our food finally arrives. The waitress keeps trying to give the wrong plates to the wrong people and gets frustrated when we try to help her, practically slamming my son's plate down on the table. This is not usually a big pet peave for me, I know it can get confusing with orders when it gets busy at a restaurant, been there, it was just one of those snowball effect deals. My husband's food didn't come out with ours, it was about another five minutes til it got there, but he's quick eater, so I guess that's ok? 🤔 My daughter's sunny side up eggs were borderline cooked, but I let her eat them because she was starving at that point, until my husband's food arrived. He cut into his sausage almost immediately to find it bright pink and cold on the inside. We jumped on the kids' plates and cut up their sausage to find the same result. The toast was stale and I began inspecting the pieces for mold (it really did not taste right), and I thought I was ok until I got halfway through my omlet to find uncooked egg sloshing around on the inside. I instantly lost my appetite. We had all pretty much stopped eating. It was about this time our pancakes finally showed up, thank goodness for that! They were pretty darn good, and cooked all the way through! We pointed out the sausage to the waitress and she offered more. Um, no...then she offered bacon, which we considered but decided we had had enough. We kindly asked her to just remove the sausage from the bill and that would be fine. She looked at is like we just asked her to perform a miracle of sorts. About 15 minutes later she came back with the bill, no charge for the sausage (😥), and my husband took it up to the counter to pay. Not sure what was going on up there, the last time they had issues with the credit card machine not working and tried to blame our bank. Not likely, it's not an individual bank thing. In case you don't know, the machines communicate through a third party vendor, therefore it's their vendor's issue if it's not functioning right. Anyhow, this was also taking insanely long and, in an attempt to maintain my patience, I began husseling children out the door. I'm so disappointed this place can't seem to get organized. However, they are really good about filling your coffee up! 😉That will probably be the last...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant which we were dying to try because some of the reviews were good but I always like to give the benefit of the doubt....needless to say we were very disappointed. We waited to be seated; two girls by the front counter saw us but didn't even acknowledged us....saying "we will be right with you" or even a hello BUT still we decided to wait (mind you there was an empty table right in the front and two more in the back. Almost 10 minutes later the blonde waitress comes and takes us to the back. 10 minutes later, another waitress came over and took our order and left. The food was just ok, the sausage links were gummy/sticky and the rest of the food was just ok. Then when we were done, we tried to get the waitress attention to let her know we are ready but she just ignored us, so after 10 minutes of waiting, i went up to one of them and she said that we had to pay at the counter. Why couldn't she tell us that when she saw but decided to ignore us. This could be the "GEM" that one of the people called it in one of the reviews, but it's by far a "GEM". This place is definitely under staffed but even if it was under staffed, your waitress can make such a huge difference being nice and professional but they were not. It is such a shame because the restaurant was very cozy and quaint and with proper staffing, the reviews will definitely change. Oh i almost forgot to mention, there was a couple that apparently had been waiting for a while and had not been served and they decided to leave...he was not happy and said he would never go back. Customer Service to me is my biggest pet peeve and this place was lacking a lot of it...I wonder if the Owner is...
Read moreI ate here for breakfast on my birthday. We were seated quickly, the food came out quickly, the food was fully cooked, the prices were decent, and the place is decorated really nicely. That's about all that I have to say that's good about this restaurant. I was honestly surprised how bad the food tasted given how many positive reviews this restaurant receives. My husband and I took one bite of the gray sausage and spit it out. We left most of our meals on the plate -- something we never do because we hate wasting food. The restaurant looked clean but smelled mildewy, literally like my grandmother's basement. I did notice what appears to be mold on the baseboards of the exterior concrete block wall, which could be the culprit. The attitude of the waitress made us feel like we were bothering her by having the audacity to patronize their restaurant. There were only two other tables seated and we were right in the heart of their open hours, so it wasn't busy or almost closing time, or anything like that to justify her cross attitude. She stood at the register and had us shout our orders to her across the room and grunted when we said thank you when she brought our drinks and plates. In all, I won't...
