Finally tried this new neighborhood spot yesterday and really enjoyed it! I had already seen pictures so I knew the interior was very beautiful and thoughtful which added a lot to the experience. A few reviews mentioned that it is a bit tight in the seating area I have to agree, the chairs are big! However they’re super comfortable which is a trade off I’ll happily take.
The hostess wasn’t the nicest and seemed annoyed when we walked in that she had to seat us, so I was feeling skeptical about the service at that point, but then our server was lovely and great at her job. And I was watching the other servers and they all seemed like they were offering really good service and were on top of things!
The prices, as most reviews have mentioned, are high. Noticeably higher than a lot of other popular brunch spots in the SLC area. However on the two meat focused dishes we got, we definitely felt like the value was there! We ordered the Loco Moco with fried rice and the corned beef hash. Both were very generous portions (lots of good quality meat in each) and delicious! We were both starving when we went in and had a decent amount of leftovers leaving to enjoy the next day.
My one critique of the hash is that the cubed potatoes were not crispy at all and I really wish they were! I don’t know anyone that doesn’t want their breakfast potatoes crispy.
Another critique would be the pricing and size of the pancakes. I would have loved to try a small side of the banana Chantilly pancake as an add on to my meal but I don’t want a basketball size that I could never finish and I don’t want to spend $14 on it.
And the fact that getting two banana pancakes is $17 shows that they are incredibly cheap to make and annoys me that one is $14. I’m willing to pay high prices for a savory/specialty breakfast with a lot of meat, that makes sense to me. But based on the other reviews I think most people are clearly annoyed over the waffle and pancake prices. You’ve got to lower the prices on those, we all know how cheap they are to make, and because they’re so expensive it’s preventing us from taking our kids in because the bill will be crazy and we can easily make them good pancakes at home.
Overall, had a great experience! I really hope they thrive here and take into consideration some of the feedback people have been expressing to get...
Read moreFirst the positives, the atmosphere was lovely it is a smaller restaurant "Boutique" but decorated lovely. The food was excellent except for some short ribs that could have been cooked a little longer to become more tender. I thought the fried rice and the demi-glace that went with the locomoco was perfect. I also enjoyed the banana pancake, although I ordered a side pancake not the banana, but it was delicious with the coconut syrup! I love the fact that you serve Kona coffee ❤️ and I look forward to trying a lot more menu items. Now, the difficult part. Unfortunately, the lady who sat us/served us/cashed us out Zeinab was lacking in professionalism, politeness, adequate service experience, I found her to be rude, walked away when we were in the middle of asking her a question, several times. Requesting simple things like silverware and cream for the coffee and she would never bring it we had to ask another server for the items after waiting over 20 minutes for her to bring them to us as well as asking her more than once. As somebody that has many years in the service industry I also noticed other tables around her needing things such as refills, clear dishes, and or waiting for things like we were waiting but yet she would do other things instead. The last time I asked her for the cream and silverware which would be about the third time she continued to clear and reset five tables in the restaurant instead of delivering what we asked for. She also drank and iced coffee while we were still waiting. We were hoping that the manager would stop by and ask us how everything was so that we could give some feedback or concern about our experience but no one ever stoped by. I went up to the cash register to again ask for a certain items that we were still waiting for and pay hoping that another person would come and cash us out but no such luck it was still the same server. I think this place has a lot of opportunity to be very successful with your delicious food and wonderful atmosphere and location hopefully you will find the right staff to help you be a success. The other server that was working during the shift was very friendly not only to her tables but also to us when I asked her specifically for some help. Thank you...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant for Sunday brunch and had a pretty decent experience. It was packed, which usually means it’s popular, and the service was great—friendly and fast even with the crowd. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, though the space is a bit small and felt a little cramped.
We ordered the double banana pancake, eggs benedict, a waffle, and coffee. The pancake looked impressive with a huge portion and a nice drizzle of sauce, but the taste was just okay—not bad, but not as amazing as it looked. It’s definitely big enough to share between two people, so good value if you’re hungry.
The eggs benedict was underwhelming. It came with egg, ham, and bread, but the portion was small and the flavor didn’t really stand out. It felt more like a side dish than a main brunch item.
The waffle, on the other hand, was better than expected—crispy on the outside, soft inside, and had a nice flavor. It was probably the best item we tried. The coffee was decent too—not mind-blowing, but it did the job.
Prices are on the higher side, so it’s not the most budget-friendly brunch spot. That said, the service and overall vibe were nice enough to make it a decent experience.
Parking was easy, which is always a bonus.
Overall, it’s a solid spot for brunch if you’re in the area. Go for the waffle and the...
