I have lived at VIDA at Daybreak for almost 2 years. I’ve always tried to be a model tenant. I pay on time, follow the rules, and take excellent care of my unit.
A few days before rent was due in September, VIDA told residents we would all need to pay by cashier’s check because of a portal outage. Then they changed course and said we could use the portal but that “Auto Payments may not go through.” That is a direct quote from their email.
On September 1, I signed into their portal to double-check my auto-payment, but the portal showed only $2.67 due. For nearly 2 years, charges have always posted in full on the 1st without fail. Seeing only that small amount, along with their warning about auto-pay, made me think rent was not going to process. So I made a manual payment to be safe. Then today, the full rent ran automatically too, which left me double charged.
When I went to the office for help, I was basically told there was nothing they could do. No acknowledgment that their messaging caused the confusion, no sympathy, nothing. I asked to speak to a manager and eventually did after the person I spoke with initially deflected and left me on hold. Unfortunately, I got the same response.
In the end, I had to escalate to Greystar corporate myself because the local office would not take any real responsibility for their communication and told me that they could "try to help" with the double payment but that resolution would take "several weeks at best."
What makes all this worse is I was not being careless. I honestly thought I was doing the right thing to make sure my rent was covered. Their unclear and inconsistent communication put me in this spot, and now I am the one paying the price. That is what makes it so aggravating. And based on what I have seen on Google, Yelp, Reddit, and Facebook tonight, I am not the only one dealing with the same poor communication.
This situation is disgraceful. Residents...
Read moreThe best thing about these apartments is the location in Daybreak. That being said, the front staff will not provide community cards to access the community center, lake systems etc. So you essentially do not get the Daybreak amenities living in these apartments. The apartment complex is under a lot of construction, which causes a lot of noise, dust and bugs. Perhaps the worst thing about the complex is the pool situation. Do NOT get an apartment by the pool. There are constant pool parties. Not just loud speakers and screaming kids, but highschool prom parties and drunk parties most nights until midnight. I'm talking chairs being thrown into the pool, alcohol being poured down throats, and ambulances being called because someone broke their arm horsing around - true story. To make matters worse, their security company is based out of Roy, so it takes them 45 minutes to come shut down a party. I used to complain to the office staff when parties went past hours (10PM), but they told me there was nothing they could do and to keep calling the security that's 45 minutes away. They even asked me to find out which residents were partying. I used to email them about the excessive parties and they told me they wouldn't respond to my emails anymore - super unprofessional office staff. If you go month to month, they charge you $1,000 more than your original rent (& that's already pretty expensive). People don't pick up their dog poop. I had neighbors that would dump dirty mop water and cleaner off their balcony onto mine - what? Overall, one star for the location and one star for the maintenance staff - they are super great, friendly and helpful. Everything else, didn't make my experience a good...
Read moreThis place looked like a dream when I toured it over a year ago, but our experience here has been a living nightmare. Two weeks before we were supposed to move in we were told that the apartment wasn’t ready for us to move in. They were nice and helped us move into a different building temporarily, but by the time the new building (the one we originally signed our contract for) was ready, they had sold our apartment to someone who worked there in the leasing office. So after paying another deposit and having to sign a new contract they moved us into a different, less desirable room, but in the same new building that we wanted. The amenities weren’t ready for the first few months and STILL ARE NOT COMPLETED. The parking situation is a disaster. Delivery drivers can’t get into the building because of the way they have the security system set up. The stairwells smell like wet dog. We’ve had multiple maintenance issues. We’ve complained about seeing other residents smoking in the pool area (around kids) and it’s still a problem. We feel like everything was rushed and finished only halfway. The elevator or pool are broken every other week. We are paying good money for a lobby that isn’t complete, a game room that isn’t open or even near completed, and a tiny pool. The gym is good. That’s honestly the only good thing I can say about vida. But lol i wouldn’t pay $1700 a month just for a good gym. There have been extra fees included in our rent on more than one occasion. We are completely fed up with this place and I would NEVER recommend...
