Our family of six visited from Indiana, excited to try this place after hearing such great things. The food lived up to the hype—truly exceptional. The deluxe eggs Benedict, the honey chicken sandwich (my brother got the chicken fried) and banana nut pancakes were possibly the best my family has ever had.
Unfortunately, the service cast a shadow over the experience. From the moment we sat down, our server (with a sleeve on her right arm and a black eye) was noticeably rude and dismissive. When I corrected a drink order, she snapped back defensively instead of simply acknowledging the mistake. Several gnats ended up in our drinks, and when we politely requested new ones or to be moved slightly away from the tree, she responded with visible irritation. My father also asked for sugar for his coffee and was met with an accusatory tone and attitude, despite only having received stevia. She told us, I’m waiting on multiple tables and you guys need to wait, I already gave you sugar. We understand you’re waiting on tables but we didn’t receive the sugar packet and coffee was getting cold at this point. She then went through the packets as if we were lying.
What made this more disheartening was that every request was met with hostility as if we were an inconvenience—something my entire family noticed. It’s hard not to wonder if our ethnicity played a part in the way we were treated. We wanted to request another server but also didn’t want to hurt her feelings or upset her. We thought, maybe she’s overwhelmed with how busy it is. However, she ended up giving us to another server. Win/Win for both. Still, we don’t understand what we did to receive such despicable service to begin with.
The owner, on the other hand, was lovely—she came over and kindly opened an umbrella for us. That’s all the server had to do. She could have offered that in the first place. Instead, she kept saying, eating outside, that’s what happens. I kept telling her, we understand that. This is not our first time eating outside on a patio. Anyways, We truly appreciated the owners gesture. Even in the end, she asked us how the food was. 10/10! My brother is still raving about the sandwich and my husband keeps saying he’s never had pancakes that good in his life. Crispy and soft at the same time.
While the food was outstanding, the server’s behavior was deeply disappointing and left a sour taste on what should’ve been a memorable family outing.
Personally, I didn’t eat anything there, she ruined the experience for me. But hearing my family rave on and on about the food, I’m thinking I...
Read moreGreat Breakfast in the Tahoe area. Service is fantastic, the food is the best I had in the Tahoe area. Portions are larger than normal.
Arrival approximately 9am on a Sunday. This is coronavirus time so masks were required. Everyone was following the rules including staff. Plenty of people sitting in the outdoor seating area spaced a good distance apart.
Upon arrival we were greeted outdoors by a bubbly employee at a podium who asked for party size and name. After giving us an estimated wait time we were seated indoors.
The service here is fantastic all the waitresses were happy, friendly. I was not a local but the moment I stepped inside I felt welcomed.
We were informed of the specials and more importantly mimosas and ordered a couple.
Mimosas were great, coffee was even better.
The only knock I could give was the waitresses did not introduce themselves by name so I could give them props here, but either way all of the ladies on the wait staff were attentive and checked on each table whenever they could.
Food was as great as the service. Chilaquiles were phenomenal the red sauce was a little hot but flavorful, the eggs went perfectly with the tortillas, the beans full of flavor and the sour cream and avocado helped cool down the spice.
Eggs benedict the hollandaise was delicious eggs cooked perfectly was a solid dish.
Will definitely be coming back whenever im in the South Tahoe area. That Coconut French Toast was...
Read moreWe where really excited to to try this place because of the reviews and the photos. We waited 40 minutes but when it was getting closer to being seated I took my toddler and my niece to go wash their hands, there where other people in there but we where up against the wall waiting for the bathrooms that where both in use and we where the first in line. I could see the hostess was visibly upset about us being in there, she wore her frustration on her face and she was walking by us talking under her breath. Another customer heard her and started laughing and saying "that's so funny" and then a minute later the hostess came up to me telling us we needed to go because there's to many people in there. So she kicked us out while we where first in line for the bathrooms! As I was walking out my sister in law was trying to come in to take her toddler potty because she couldn't hold it and they got kicked out as well. My sister in law said the hostess kept telling her "you need to get out, you need to get out." As a small business owner myself I would never treat customers the way the hostess treated us, no matter what, even if a customer was being difficult or if I was having a bad day! I'm assuming she is the owner, with that kind of attitude I really can't belive they have a 4.8 star rating. Ultimately we came to another breakfast spot! I...
