On the menu it says they can add 18% gratuity, to any check, at any time. Ok cool. We get our checks and the gratuity was added but the server didn't mention it.
One, the menu isn't clear because obviously they pick and choose who to add it to. Two, since it's not clear, the server was obligated to tell us that she added it. She did not. This was after sub par service from her all night (took about 20 minutes to get service to begin with, didn't check on anyone who ordered food, drinks were empty for awhile before she would come back, etc.) so of course she added it as she 'probably' wouldn't have received a very good tip.
In addition, it says 18% but they actually charge you 20%. Please pay attention to your checks if you decide to eat/drink here. This is shady to say the least. It may only be a few cents or a couple dollars (depending on your total) but doing this to everyone adds up. A win-win for them but definitely a scam.
Finally, and I unfortunately didn't take a picture of this one, but they charge a service fee on cards. This is also fine... but I paid with a debit card. So, that fee was illegal. Also, if this wasn't a charge for cards, this service fee isn't listed anywhere that I've seen so still shady.
Overall, not happy. Granted we only paid like $9 more than we should've, but again, that adds up across multiple people over time.

There have been countless times I go to place an online order, but they "forgot" to turn on the site not allowing online orders. Other times, the website crashes. If you call to place an order, they tell you you MUST place the order online, no over the phone options, yet their online system is terrible! We have pivoted to other restaurants for this very reason. Today when I called to inform them that the online service was not working, the employee was extremely rude and hung up on me. Extremely poor customer service.
There have been 2 times we ordered wings online - yet they prepared the wings under cooked with the sauce on the side... like what?!? Who wants a small jar of cold jelly and warm peanut butter to sauce their own wings?! Again, poor service.
Lastly, when placing an online order (when it works) you are REQUIRED to leave a tip. I tip generously with good service, but should not be expected to tip before receiving food.
We continued to return because we love their wings, but we are no longer going to come here. It is a disappointment to see another SM restaurant begin to fail.

Read moreSeriously unimpressed by the behavior of the owner, Ryan. While he was on the phone behind the bar he began screaming and ranting at the individual he was on the phone with. His choice of language (which I won’t detail because Google would likely remove this review) and aggressive demeanor made several patrons, including our group, uncomfortable. As a woman, based on the things he was yelling and the way he was behaving, I did not feel safe in his presence and felt worried about the safety of the female bartender as well. Half of the bar left shortly after witnessing his rant. He was also rude and condescending to the bartender on staff who had been wonderful and attentive all evening while servicing the entire bar almost completely by herself. We had been to The Tap Room several times before without incident and in the past the bar was always busy and the food and service has mostly been great.
