I was doing a quick stop at this coffee shop from work. As usual I try new coffee shops on the daily. I order my usual at a coffee shop a latte with a pastry or food item. To start off Latte temperature was good. The espresso itself tasted old and stale. I believe the coffee beans have not been changed to fresh ones. Very small amount of micro-foam on the milk. Meaning the milk was not steamed correctly and water used to steam tastes as if it was not filtered. I was hungry so I also ordered a Bagel. The bagel was very chewy and not fresh as if it was sitting on a bag for a while. I was expecting a fresh toasted bagel with a slight crunch to it. For the price not worth it. Overall good service and a great spot, but quality of product is very poor. The details make the difference. The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to really love this place but the service has gone way downhill. When the owner is there it's great, but I came in on my way to work when a blonde guy was running the place and I had to wait forever while they did this guy's coffee. They didn't even acknowledge me until they finished that guy's order. I then I ordered two things and while I was waiting for my order, another guy came in and they stopped working on my order to work on his -- even though I had to wait for them to finish the other guy before they took mine. I asked the blonde guy why that was and he didn't apologize, explain, or try to make it right -- he just said it wasn't personal. Well sure but it's still bad service. I'm not planning to...

Iāve lived in LA my entire life, essentially, and have never heard of it. Hermon, as it turns out, is a super quaint little village wedged between Highland Park and South Pasadena. Charlieās is right in the heart of Hermon.
Charlieās is a dark (really dark) roast only cafe, so the coffee is just not my favorite, but I am admittedly not a fan of dark roast coffees. The prices were quite high for the quality, which is kind of hard to justify when some of LAās most iconic coffee shops are within walking distance next door in...
