Causeway Ice Cream is a hidden gem in South River that I can’t believe I just discovered after living in the area for 15 years. It’s an affordable, family-friendly spot offering both soft serve and about 30 flavors of hard ice cream. The menu covers all the classics—sundaes, banana splits, waffles, and waffle cones—making it the kind of place where everyone can find something they love.

We went on a warm Sunday night, and the place was packed with families enjoying themselves. There’s plenty of seating—some in front by the ice cream counter, more on the side of the building, and even a tent setup in the back where a separate food cart serves dinner items. Both the ice cream shop and the food cart were busy, which gave the whole place a lively, welcoming vibe.

I ordered a medium chocolate chocolate chip hot fudge sundae with sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry, while my girlfriend went with pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone with sprinkles. Both were delicious, and the price was very reasonable—just $13 total for the two of us.

No, it’s not the fanciest ice cream parlor, and it may not be the “best” ice cream I’ve ever had, but the charm is in the atmosphere. It feels like a homestyle, established neighborhood spot where families and couples have been coming for years—and will continue to for many more.

Last night’s crew (Amira, Lateefah + Bradley) was the best! Love getting there and getting to talk with them while they get our order together. They are super efficient and have THE BEST ice cream + italian ice in the area. Y’all have to try their açaí bowls as well… when I tell you gooooood I mean it! A beautifully presented, traditional Brazilian açaí bowl, the absolute best flavor! Honestly, a week doesn’t go by where I don’t pull up at their drive-thru… yeah they have a drive-thru😎

By far and away, one of the BEST Banana Splits I've ever had in my life! Easily top 3 and I have had them all over the United States and even in other countries. You can order one and it's enough for two.
