I recently visited Raymond’s Bread Outlet after being introduced to their brown and serve rolls, which were gifted to me. These rolls reminded me of the classic San Francisco sourdough found in the city's best restaurants, particularly in areas like North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf.

Upon arriving, my first impression was the inviting aroma of fresh bread. The shelves weren't fully stocked, possibly due to the timing of our visit since they restock fresh bread hourly. Despite this, I was eager to return for those delicious brown and serve sourdough rolls and to try the mini baguettes (brown and serve) found in the fridge. There were also just baked on the shelf baguettes and raisin bread available, along with bargain bags of Dutch crunch sandwich rolls for just $3.

Initially planning to spend around $20, I ended up spending nearly $50 as my mom also selected some various baguettes. At home, I tried the raisin bread, which was delightful, especially toasted with a bit of butter. The brown and serve rolls were perfect, but I noticed the baguettes had a different crust texture and density, lacking the sourdough flavor I was hoping for. It's best to eat or freeze them quickly for heating later, as the crust hardens fast by end of day.

Most items were priced individually or two for a deal, such as $6. However, I encountered confusion with the checkout process. When reviewing the receipt after I drove away, I noticed discrepancies: for instance, we purchased a $3 bag of Dutch crunch rolls, but the receipt showed three bags instead. Additionally, the baguettes were listed incorrectly on a separate line with a different description, despite being the same item. I don't understand why they don't just ring up everything the same way instead of listing one item that is exactly the same on a different description line. Even though the overall charge was correct, it should be better organized when ringing up items to match what you're purchasing. This mix-up caused unnecessary confusion, making me double-check my total to ensure accurate billing.

Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking. There was no friendly welcoming assistance or guidance when we entered, and the cashier didn’t offer a bag without asking despite our large purchase. Although the total charge was correct, the mismatched line items on the receipt added to the overall disappointing customer service experience.

Overall, the bread quality is good, though I wasn't impressed with the long baguettes. I'll return for the brown and serve sourdough rolls and plan to try the mini baguettes next time. The raisin bread is a must-have, perfect for breakfast.

**The owner is responding asking what location? well my understanding is there’s only one that is baking the bread every hour on the hour and that is the outlet in South San Francisco at 151 S Spruce. This is the one I visited and it seems from other past reviews other people have had the same negative experience with the girls (staff) at the counters not being great at...

Love their sourdough bread, my favorite is the sourdough rolls. Although is really hard to get them, everytime I go they don't have them. So I have to request them, sometimes the lady with blond hair hispanic, wants to make them but I have to buy two orders otherwise she isn't able to make them or that's what she says. Sometimes she doesn't want to make them because she says the long baguette are the same, but hey not for the customer we all have different tastes and likes so I think that part we need to respect and not be bias. Otherwise, Raymond is really friendly he greets and thanks you for coming in to his store. He knows what customer service is and even asks for your name which makes you feel more...

Went down to California to visit family. My sister told us about this place so we went to get our bread for dinner that night. It is literally the best sourdough bread you will ever eat. Made with all fresh ingredients and made with love. The store is so adorable and has so many selections to choose from. If we lived in the area I think we would be there daily to pick up the fresh baked bread that is literally steamy hot to the touch. It's so soft inside, yet nice and crunchy on the outside. Raymond's to us is the best place to get bread and you will not be disappointed! Thanks Sandy for introducing us to Raymond's bread. Yum!!!! 5 Stars is just not enough to rate...

Sourdough Breads galore, cookies, and pastries! Oh My! Decisions Decisions on the fresh pastries and cookies! Tried them all. So good! The breads are delishes! Offer little butter cups for fresh hot bread. Come in rounds, baguettes, bread loafs, sandwich, rolls, cubed, sliced, and raisen bread. Love this place! Hidden Gem! Staff are really nice and helpful. Before I trek home to Roseville, CA. I stop and get my Mom fresh Sourdough.

OoOoOo my gawd! I have a sourdough obsession & flew in from FL late last night. Googled best sourdough near me and MAN O MAN - my google search NAILED it! Hot bread straight out of the oven, so I ate half of it sitting in my car in the parking lot dipped in tiny tubs of butter. I’M IN LOVE! And thank you for the gift offer from the owner - I will definitely be back to meet you next time in town, cannot wait :)

I grew up in the SF Bay Area and haven't visited in nearly 20 years. have missed real sourdough bread. I wanted to bring some back to friends in Wyoming so they can experience real sourdough bread. Had asked around a few folks and Raymond's was the response. I went and was not disappointed. Simple, cash only, super fresh, and quite delicious. if you've not had real sourdough then start here.
