I had no idea this place was here. I've been in that shopping complex many, many times and I just never paid attention to all the stores on that end.
Last evening, I was meeting my husband after work for a trip to Philly to see a show, and I wanted to grab something we could eat on the go. I own a Tesla, so decided to pop over to Supercharger on the other side of the parking lot for a quick charge while I waited for my husband to get to our meeting spot, and I Googled places for takeout in the area. We love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and Lazeez had a great Google rating, so I figured I'd give them a try.
I walked into the restaurant, and was instantly greeted by a young man with a smile. When I told him I needed a few seconds to decide what I wanted, he asked if I had ever been there. I admitted I hadn't, and quickly decided to order two combo meals for my husband and I to share. We got the chicken shawarma, the falafel wrap, a side of hummus, a side of baba ganoush, and two drinks from their cooler. I was told it would be about 7 or 8 minutes, I can grab drinks from the cooler, and have a seat.
The cooler was well stocked with a wide variety of drinks, and had a great little selection. I don't think it took more than 5 minutes for my order to be ready. I got to chatting with the young man a little as I was checking out, and he told me they've been there for 12 years. How had I never noticed them before now? He mentioned that they do very little advertising and rely almost solely on word of mouth. I can see, now, that they need no advertising. Their food really does speak for itself!
I've never had shawarma with French fries inside before, but it was delicious! The falafel was well seasoned and the balance of the sauce with the pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce was great. The wraps were huge! In fact, my husband could have easily split one meal and would have been satisfied. The hummus, while not the best I've ever had came really close and is definitely now in my top 5 list (I've tried a LOT of hummus). The baba ganoush was creamy and roasty and delicious. They gave us a generous portion of pita and pita chips to go along with the sides. They even threw in a few small pieces of namoora into the order, and it was delicious!
Last evening was my first visit, but it most definitely won't be my last. The food was wonderful, and the young man working was so friendly and engaging. While I was waiting for my food, someone had walked in with a bunch of menu questions. The young man and a young woman both took the time to explain everything to her and answer her questions. It is clearly a business that cares about...
Read moreI dont frequent many Mediterranean restaurants but I can very very easily say this was by far my favorite. Huge standout experience to me for many reasons. Walked into an extremely clean, well decorated atmosphere so I had high expectations. We ordered the lunch combo meals, which were your choice of an entree and side with a soda. Price was around $15 for a chicken shwarna, side of seasoned rice and a drink. Price was exactly on point for this meal.
The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly, even down to the wrap being warm and crunchy. The seasoned rice was the perfect amount of buttery and warm, phenomenal meal for a dreary day. I forgot to get the name of the gentleman behind the register but after a brief conversation I'm assuming it was the owner. He discovered it was our first time in his establishment and was very welcoming and seemingly genuinely thankful to have our business (I love this in businesses) We were treated to a small dessert with our lunches which was just as delicious as the lunch itself.
I thought maybe we were just getting preferential treatment as we were new customers until I heard everyone in the place being treated as warmly and friendly as us. I can't say enough good things about this place and its staff, this is the standard for every other restaurant in my mind. Well done. I wish your business and crew nothing but the best success, I will...
Read moreStopped in over the weekend to Lazeez Fresh Mediterranean in Allentown to try out a shawarma wrap. Matt from Ridge Runner BBQ (as well as many others) suggested this spot and I finally had the time and proximity to check it out. I will start by saying this wrap was $16 so if you’re not down to pay that, know in advance. I will also say it was super stuffed and I didn’t feel ripped off after eating. The only thing better than the food, was the man behind the counter who I assume was the owner. One of the friendliest people I’ve encountered in quite some time in a restaurant.
So the chicken shawarma (beef was suggested to me but I was just feeling chicken) came with rotisserie chicken breast, fries, pickles, and creamy garlic sauce. Absolute banger. The wrap was grilled over open flame so it added flavor and texture. The garlic sauce was delicious and heavy on garlic flavor. Lots of delicious juicy chicken. And I always say that the addition of potato to things like this really makes it more creamy to me once it blends in your mouth. Everything tasted super fresh and seasoned perfectly. They added a few bites of a dessert that I could honestly take or leave. It was sweet on sweet and I’m not huge on stuff like that.
Lazeez is a spot I’ll absolutely hit again at the bare minimum just to try the beef. Lazeez -...
