Hometown Pizza of Southbury — Restaurant in Southbury

2/2/24 UPDATING my previous review. Call the store! I was very impressed that the owner called me when my problem occurred as I previously posted. I no longer order through Slice, the online order company. Although it may seem easier to order online, in reality, it is not. CALL Hometown Pizza directly. They are great about understanding allergies and ask for possible substitutions when you talk to them personally. They will do substitutes when possible. Always have been very polite drivers.

Have ordered from here multiple times. Tonight is sadly not the first time I have had a problem. But tonight was the worst. When you order online with any exceptions or substitutions, they don't call if they cannot fulfill the request. This is quite an issue if you have an allergy! They choose on their own what to do about the exception or substitution to the order. Not good business when you're spending a lot of money $70+ for delivery. If you order early, often they deliver earlier than expected and follow the directions if you put them in of where to leave the order. Still, that doesn't out-weigh making a quick phone call to the customer to clarify an order. I worked in the hospitality food business for many years -- it's just good service to...

Gave order to friendly person on phone. We were getting delivery to our nearby hotel. I asked for a slice of an amazing-sounding vegetable slice I saw on the online menu. They said they didn't have it. I asked if they had any of the other special veggie slices listed. No, they didn't. But they could put vegetables I wanted, on a regular slice. Hmm....I asked for cups and plates since we were in hotel room and had nothing. Delivery was fast, but pizza was cold. My custom veggie slice was nasty. Lame, mushy strips of eggplant that were barely recognizable as eggplant. Onions that were raw, not even softened whatsoever. I wiped off the toppings and only ate slice because I was starving and our options were limited. Several of the kids hated the pizza as well. Also, they forgot cups and plates. Called and requested they bring them. In the meantime, before pizza got even colder, we tried asking onsite restaurant for some plates, and they did give them to us, so we were able to start eating. Wings were good and so was garlic bread. Just really underwhelming...

This is (was) my regular pizza place. Ordered a pizza on Slice at 5:50pm, says it will be here between 6:30 and 6:50. I call at 7:00pm and they said it’s on the way, call back in 20min if it’s not here. I call back at 7:20 and they said they are very busy and it’s on the way. I call back at 7:45pm and they look further to find out the order was never processed. I’m asked if I still want the food, which I do as I’m still hungry, but we had to feed our kids something else. So much for needing two large pizzas.

This is my second issue with Hometown in the last few months. I was previously overcharged for a large party order and after I pointed out the issue, was given a gift card for hometown for the amount they over charged, instead of just giving me my money back.

I hate to do this, but I’m done. I understand mistakes happen, but I don’t like being lied to and neither mistake was ever made...
