Had the oyster special with caviar. $4. / oyster.. The oysters were OK not spectacular and very small. The greeting staff put us at a very small table between 2 other tables. There were empty booths and she would not seat us there even with reservations. This was not a good first impression. I saw her seat someone behind us at the booth and it was just two people. We were blessed to be sitting next to a nice couple who we wound up having a lovely conversation with and enjoyed their company. They were eating mussels and recommended them so we ordered the mussels. They were good but the bread was burnt used for dipping and tasted terrible with the sauce. Too bad because the sauce on the mussels was very good. We had espresso martinis that were very good. My husband ordered scallops and I ordered linguine with clams. The brought my husband a halibut meal. He had to wait to get his proper order. My linguine was very good and ample size to bring half home. We finished with panacotta with raspberry sauce which was light, creamy and not too sweet. We finished with 2 cappuccinos. The meal was almost $200. David, our waiter was very good. We had a nice meal but I expected better oysters than what we were served. It's not right to send burnt toast to a table for those prices. I want to try this place again and see if it can earn five stars. Right now I give it three. I was hoping for better food...
Read more"I found Oysters" I've been looking for a place close to home to have fresh oysters. I found the place. Lucas Local Oyster Bar is only 20 minutes from home and the oysters are great. We really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It's rustic and nautical. Beautiful wide planked floors, church pews used for seating, oars hung throughout the restaurant, and an old rusty bicycle in the corner of the dining room. The bicycle looks like something you might find abandoned by the beach in Cape Cod. They also have a comfortable bar and an outdoor patio for dining. My wife began with a lager beer. I had the Spicy Red cocktail. House infused jalapeno tequila, habanero mash, and fresh blood orange juice. Delicious with a nice kick. As we sat at the bar, we were able to watch the woman shucking the oysters. The were fresh, sweet, and briny. The cocktail sauce and mignonette were excellent. As I was finishing my oysters, my wife ordered Chef Brett's Summer Risotto with wood-grilled corn, scallions, roasted red fresno peppers, white wine, and parmesan cheese. It was creamy and delicious. I had the Fire Kissed Octopus with babaganush, wild arugula, citrus pickled onions, and spicy crispy chickpeas. The octopus was super tender and very tasty. We usually don't venture in the direction of Newtown from home, but we will now that we found the Lucas...
Read moreI was a fan when I last went back when they were located in Newtown, and they continue deliver on freshness, flavor and quality customer satisfaction. Went for my husband’s birthday and ordered everything on the menu- or so it seemed! We shared a captain’s tower of fresh oysters, clams, jumbo shrimp and lobster. We couldn’t decide on which oysters to include in our tower so our absolutely wonderful waiter David brought out a variety and explained all of their flavor complexities as well as location where they’re from. He was helpful with other menu suggestions and was sweet enough to not only bring us extra house-made pickles after we’d raved about them, but before the check came brought my husband and I courtesy champagne for his birthday since we were too full for dessert. Just the sweetest person ever, attentive and accommodating without being overwhelming. My scallops were small, but filling and full of flavor. My husband’s shrimp carbonara was some of the best he’d had as it “wasn’t overwhelmingly creamy.” We’d also gotten the grilled octopus which came with a tome (unsure of proper spelling) that was incredible- full of flavor and perfectly paired! We were so pleased with our meals and evening overall. We will be returning and recommending...
