Recently landed at MIK for a quick lunch after our original destination was closed. Had been suss of this spot due to the reviews but figured wth why not. This restaurant has a nice modern industrial upscale vibe w reclaimed wood & open seating.. We were shown to a table quickly with the booths being fairly comfortabl Our waitress seemed distracted throughout our meal but regardless we placed our order all at once since we were in a hurry. 2 apps: Charred Cauliflower Crispy Eggplant Napoleon a pie: Autumn Harvest The apps were a mixed bag with the eggplant being the clear winner here. The cutlets were not too thick, breaded expertly and held up surprisingly well, the only knock here was the marinara was cold (maybe serve it on a hot plate?) Ther charred cauilflower was so so, a big fan of the wood charred cauli itself w the roasted tomatoes and even the mint but the greek yogurt base for the sauce just didnt work for me especially w the tomatoes As for the pizza Its a neapolitana style pie wa splash of ny style in there, overall I was a fan of the concept....a quality spicy gabagool, garlic sauce, shaved brussels caramelized onions and the fontina all worked as fantastic flavors and the crust uses quality 00 flour but where things fall is in ratio and bake off... the pie was to top heavy and either the crust too thin or under done. It was a fork&knife job. Fairly common for this style of pie. All n all still pretty decent but could be wayyy better.

The ambience of rustic-industrial chic lebds itself to acomforyable? hip vibe. Wide open space (including high ceiling) with ample seating inside give you plenty of breathing room, arm and leg room without fellow diners listening in. Bar is physically large to accommodate your groups of friends and the staff is bar their greatest asset. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Had one of their signature martinis for starters, smooth and fantastic... wish i could remember the name 🍸 Let's talk food ... chicIen parm, fabulous. Charred cauliflower, awesome. Charred romaine salad, who knew?!? so good. Brussels & Burrata with fig aoili ... oh my ... the best... a meal in itself if you don't want to share! Summer Veggie Pizza, perfect amount of char on crust, delicious... The bounty of veggies, crisp and full of flavor, I was in love. Chocolate Gelato for dessert... the smoothness was wonderful and the rich, creamy chocolate taste satisfied my craving for a soothing blanket of dessert. Strawberry shortcake. well, it wasn't mine, but I had to sample. Nostalgic homemade perfection. MERCATO ... highly recommend and have been twice in 3 weeks and will be back again soon.

A total lack of customer service. Hopes for something good quickly evaporated as soon as we sat at the bar, place half empty with cooks staring at the dinning area. Sat at the bar where there were only 4 other customers sitting at, server at the bar never acknowledged we were there and simply walked away, another customer sat at the bar and manager came to serve him a drink and also walked away, no drinks, no menus offered or at least "a server will be with you shortly" Second Visit: March 4/19 Service was beyond excellent, we were lucky to have Alissa as our server unfortunately the food was not, from deep fried Brussels Sprouts drenched in Balsamic, cheese, prosciutto, aioli, pistachios and yet more balsamic to cover sprouts fried beyond recognition was the perfect example of over doing it with so many ingredients, seemed like the mirror dish served at The Marketplace in Woodbury; pasta dishes bland with under-cooked pasta (not al dente), seafood (clams) were fresh. Won't bother spending my money there.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner earlier this week. We did not know what to expect. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is big and the rustic decor is impressive. The bar area seemed to be very busy.We asked to be seated away from the bar because we preferred a quiet area, where we could have a conversation without yelling. Instead of ordering entrees, we ordered only appetizers. It was a good idea. The charred Spanish octopus with chickpeas and potatoes was cooked to perfection. It was very tender. My husband loved the grilled lamb chop lollipops. The cauliflower was good and the prosciutto di Parma platter was abundant and nicely presented. The desserts we ordered - olive oil cake and cheesecake - were very tasty. Our server, Jacklyn, was excellent. She was very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We were not familiar with the menu and she answered our questions in a patient, polite manner. We really liked this restaurant and plan to go there again as soon as we can.

Mercato Southbury is a wonderful spot for enjoying contemporary Italian cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The farm-to-table approach really shines through in their dishes, with fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients creating memorable meals. The craft cocktails from the full bar are also exceptional, adding a special touch to the dining experience. The ambiance is truly top-notch; it feels both cozy and sophisticated, making it perfect for a night out. The food was delicious, and the weekly specials highlighted the best of seasonal ingredients. My one critique was a misstep with our meal. We asked if there was parmesan cheese in the dish due to dietary restrictions, and we were told no, but there was parmesan after all. While disappointing, it didn’t take away from the overall quality of the experience. Mercato Southbury is definitely worth a visit, especially if you appreciate thoughtful, chef-driven meals in a lovely setting.
