I used to be a regular at this Central Park deli. Typically, I order a turkey burger with sweet potato fries and their appetizers are pretty good. My partner usually gets the Caesar salad with no chicken.
However, our recent carry-out experience was a complete disaster. When we left the restaurant, we noticed that the Caesar salad had pecans. At first, we thought it was an honest mistake, but upon inspection, the salad was full of pecans, which is alarming because my partner has a peanut allergy.
When we returned to the store to explain the situation, the female cashier was waiting for us as if she knew we would have an issue with the food. Instead of taking our concerns seriously, she dismissed us and brushed off the pecan incident as if it was no big deal.
It felt like the pecans were intentionally placed in the salad because the store had previously given preferential treatment to me, while my partner received poor service.
To make matters worse, the cooks behind the counter kept looking from the back, pacing when I was talking about the situation. When he remade the salad, it came back so quickly that it seemed suspicious. And of course when I inspect it the salad itself was thrown together with wilted pieces that looked nothing like the first salad.
The first salad was perfect as far as preparation it just had pecans in it. It was insulting to get this replacement salad that was clearly thrown together.
Not only did we have to risk a possible anaphylactic situation because of the carelessness of the staff, but we also had to deal with unprofessional behavior. The male coworker who was not even present during the incident decided to argue with us about the lack of integrity of their staff.
It is shocking that we never received an apology for the danger we were put in. The cook who was pacing in the back could have taken responsibility for his mistake, but instead, he let a woman take the blame and apologize on his behalf.
Overall, the experience at this Central Park deli was a disaster. The lack of concern for our safety, unprofessional behavior, and overall carelessness of the staff makes this restaurant not worth visiting again. Stay away unless you like petty staff doing stuff...
Read moreUsually i am extremely pleased with my food and the service at central park deli but today I am very disappointed.
I normally order a corned beef and the fried zucchini that usually is a hit. Today for lunch I ordered the corned beef roll up and was greatly disappointed. I tasted grit which seemed to be the taste of dirt from the lettuce on my wrap. At first I just decided to throw it away and just give them a pass but then I decided that I would call to give them a heads up so they could make the necessary improvements. when I first called and asked to speak to the manager and was put on hold and was then told no manager was available to speak to me. I then started to explain my situation and was immediately cut off and was told that I did not taste dirt/grit because they wash their lettuce daily. Unfortunately I told her, that I know the taste of dirt in my lettuce very calmly but didn't like being told what I tasted. And then again asked when I could call back to speak to the manager because I wanted in the mood to debate if I tasted grit or not. She then stated that she was trying to help me and that I didn't have to get an attitude and told me no manager was available and she didn't know when one would be so I asked her her name and was placed on hold and ignored. I'm extremely disappointed because I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but because of my bad experience today I cant. I'm also not sure if Ill come back because my number is associated with my account when I call to place and order which has been great in the past for the discount rewards program they offer but I know after this bad review I can be quickly targeted so sadly I most likely...
Read moreA lot of changes have happened with this place. Obviously covid has affected everything and everyone. I haven't been back to work for 2 years so I ventured down there last week and wanted to get some food from my favorite place back in the day. When I walked in, all the chairs for the tables were on top of the tables. It was beyond uninviting, not to mention how filthy it felt. I decided to try the kiosk to make things easier for the people that did show up to work as their sign asked for at the door. The kiosk did not allow me to do any adjustments to the sandwich I chose so I decided to add to the notes that I did not want onion on my chicken Caesar wrap. They have one of those fancy Pepsi machines where you get to choose your flavor however most of the flavors were missing so that tells me that they're not keeping them on hand. You're just getting the basics regarding pop so what's the point in having the fancy machine anymore? I made payment at the kiosk so I didn't have that as an issue so I just stood there waiting for my food. The girls behind the counter were super friendly but no one checked the ticket and no one communicated with the cook. I left out of there feeling uncomfortable and knowing that I won't be back only to find out they put onion all over my sandwich. I didn't have the heart to go back in and bother to tell them what happened. I will consider this a "good place to eat" of the past. If I were to give any advice, take the chairs off the tables and look like a restaurant! Also have people read the notes on the tickets and make sure that the...
