I would like to take this time to acknowledge the remarkable staff at Captin Jay's Fish & Chicken in Southgate Michigan. Nikki, Billy and Alexis are the absolute best!!! It was the first time our family ever went to a Captain Jay's and definitely won't be our last!!! From the time we walked in the door, we were greeted with a smile, welcomed, told to take our time and feel free to ask if we had any questions. We placed our order and they kept us informed the whole time!!! They made sure we were comfortable and asked us if we needed anything while we waited. The wait was not long at all!!! When our order was complete, they packaged everything up very nicely, put our condiments in a separate bag and made sure we had everything before we left. They gave us the biggest smiles and thank you and asked us to please come back and see them again!!! Their pricing is awesome!!! We ordered legs and thighs, plus whole wings and fries, and mac n cheese. Hear me when I say the food was cooked to perfection!!!!! Very well seasoned, crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside!!! Mac n cheese was delicious!!! Everything was nice and hot, cooked perfectly and nicely packaged!!! We did get a sprinkle of the lemon pepper seasoning on our order and it was excellent, just the right amount, not over powering, perfect!!! The professionalism, kindness and beautiful spirit of these individuals is what truly set this place a part from so many others!!! So often now, you just don't get that kind, genuine, caring service!!! Nikki, Billy and Alexis please know, on behalf of myself and my family, we truly appreciate each one of you, your kindness, your professionalism and making us feel so welcomed!!! For a family of 5, if you're in the mood for fried chicken and sides, at a very affordable price and outstanding customer service, I highly recommend Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken in Southgate Michigan!!! Blessings to you all and thank you again for your kindness and outstanding hospitality!!!
Sincerely,
Completely satisfied...
Read moreSo although it pains me to say this! Idk what’s going on, but for the second time in a row eating at this particular establishment that they’ve sold us raw chicken. The 1st time it happened, I chalked it up to it being late and them ready to go that maybe they just hurried up and threw it together. But the second time………at this point, the person cooking must not know how to tell when the food is fully cooked. The first time it happened was actually worse because my kids were eating it. What makes it worse is when I called I kindly explained what happened and didn’t have an attitude at all! She asked if I would like the meal replaced and I kindly denied due to the fact that having bit into raw chicken completely threw everybody off wanting meat in general. I asked for a refund because it was RAW FOOD/chicken at that! The worst raw food you can eat! She told me that she would not be able to process a refund. So I kindly said ok, I’ll call back in the morning to speak to a supervisor. And wouldn’t you know…….this lady said “well, I am the general manager” I couldn’t believe the GENERAL MANAGER! Told me she could not process a return for allowing me to take raw chicken home. I highly doubt I will be returning to that establishment any time soon. Makes it worse they were out of Okra and the jalapeño poppers were only good on the outside. The jalapeño taste less than edible. It’s not about the money! It’s the principle. They should have refunded the meal and offered a credit to keep my business as they are the only people who USED to sell decent fried chicken. Guess that ship has sailed! Sad day for me I suppose. I encourage anyone who eats here to check their food to ensure it is fully cooked to the recommended temperature to safely eat poultry or risk the potential food Bourne illness or food poisoning. I’m hoping that me or my family are not at risk for needing any medical attention. All from...
Read moreI have given this place plenty of opportunities to prove that they are great. The first time I ever visited here is around when they first open. The wait times were a little long, but it was totally worth it because the food was awesome!
However, the last couple of times I have ordered from here, it has been nothing but a nightmare. 20+ minute wait times when there’s barely anybody in line, completely missing items (literally the last 3 times I was went), and bland under seasoned food. Why I kept coming back even after all that? I guess I really just wanted the same food I had the first time because again, it really was AWESOME.
However, the nail in the coffin is when my fiancee stopped by there on her way home from work and got cod. Mind you she never really eats fish all too much so she’s not familiar with it. When she brought her food into the house and opened it, it smelled so foul. She was under the impression that cod was a little smelly like salmon and could not fully smell it to the full extent while it was packaged and in a bag. If I wouldn’t have said anything she more than likely would’ve ate it. However, I doubt she would’ve been able to because it would have tasted awful. It seriously smelt rancid.
How this went over the employees head and they thought it was okay to serve that is crazy to me. It’s obvious that they are serving bad food, which is going to end up making somebody sick or worse, kill somebody. This place will never get a dime of my money again, which honestly, I am pretty upset about because I really did enjoy their food at first.
Hopefully whoever owns this restaurant can really take a look at their management and staff and make this place as good as it was when it...
