This place seems to really be going downhill lately. They brought me 2 empty plates that were dirty so I asked for clean ones. I get mostly take out orders but recently we went in and sat down to eat and I was sickened by their bathroom, it has big giant areas bigger than your hand in several places on the floor and corners with what looked like black mold, the bathroom is so tiny that you cant help but come in contact with it. The bathroom was filthy and I'll just bet that the big arabic dude hoge, that owns the place doesnt have a filthy bathroom like that in his house. It smelled like mold and mildew in the bathroom and I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! And the humas we got to take home tasted sour like it had sat out all night long. Its really sad cause I really LOVE their food there, normally anything you order there is usually delicious, I've been ordering there for almost 10 yrs now. And they only seem to have one girl trying to manage about 10 different tables at a time, its kinda sad they put all that on her and she (the waitress) was VERY nice, I just felt sorry for her cause she was working her tail off! Theres just no way one girl can keep up with that many people at once. Not even Superman could have done that! I was just sooooo sadened by how they are letting the place go to pot mostly meaning the bathroom, it was completely disgusting, I felt like I was going to be sick just by being in there! Clean your bathroom Hoge, most customers like to wash their hands before eating and dont you realize its a reflection of what you think of your customers, not to mention, you should always have sanitary bathrooms in a restaurant or you will track that mold and mildew right out into the dining area, ICK, the bathroom was just disgusting! it really kinda ruined my meal! It took me days to get that smell out of my nose! Hoge should buy some of those ionic breeze air purifiers by sharper image, they clear the air and they are easy to clean like once a year, you just pull the steel thing out and rinse it off with water and then put it back in. Anything would be an improvement when it comes to that bathroom and for goodness sakes get rid of that black mold in the bathroom, thats just being lazy and not caring about your customers! I sure hope your kitchen is taken care of better than that bathroom! I dont know if I could ever go in that place to eat again with that bathroom in that bad of shape. That speaks volumes to me about whether the owner cares about his customers or is just there to make a buck. im sure if you'd just use some bleach in the bathroom and give it a complete cleaning would help immensley! so come on hoge, I know you can do better than this! Us customers deserve a clean bathroom! I also like to go to the Shish place on Allen Rd by West and their bathrooms are beautiful! So Im not coming back until Hoge cleans his bathroom and gets rid of all that black moldly stuff thats growing in there. There are too many places that also have this kind of food and...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I am deeply saddened to write this review but I feel compelled to so things will hopefully change for the better at Alex Kabob House. I have eaten here on a regular basis since they opened and was always happy with the service and the food. However, as several other patrons have stated, things have been going downhill here for a while. I grew up in Dearborn and have been eating arabic food my entire life! When I moved to downriver I was really bummed that there were no "good" arabic restaurants in the area, that was until Alex's opened. For years this place was great but something has changed for the worse lately. The last few times I have eaten here I have been disappointed with some aspect of the meal. One of my favorite dishes is Kibbeh Nayeh (Raw Kibbeh). I know that you DON'T order this dish at places you don't trust, as it can be very dangerous and even deadly if not prepared correctly. I used to always order kibbeh nayeh from Alex's because it was wonderful, fresh and done right! However, the last two times I ordered it here there was a huge problem. The first time it had so much bulgar mixed in it that it was impossible to make it stay together. There was so little lamb in it that it did not even resemble the correct dish. I usually get take out, so I didn't discover the problem until I was home. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and went back to dine again a few weeks later. I let the manager know about my last order and he ASSURED me that it would NEVER happen again. Even though I was told it was a one time mistake I still shied away from ordering kibbeh nayeh at Alex's for quite a while. The food that I have been ordering here lately has definitely NOT been anywhere near as good as it was in the past. It seems that the ingredients are of cheaper, less fresh quality than it has been in the past. Tonight I was heading home and stopped into Alexe's and decided that I would give the kibbeh nayeh a chance again. Well, I got all the way home (15 min) opened the food container and thought I had the wrong order! This time the kibbeh was about the consistency of runny hummus! I took a very small taste of the mess and it was absolutely inedible! I called to let them know what happened and talked to the guy who made it. He apologized and asked me to come in tomorrow so he could make me a new order of kibbeh at no charge. I appreciate his effort to try to help but there is NO WAY I am going back to the SAME guy for him to TRY and make the dish right again! I have given Alex's more than a few chances to fix what was wrong and it just isn't getting any better. This is the first time I have written a bad review and I am really disappointed that one of my favorite restaurants in the area is now a place I will NOT go to again and will NOT recommend anyone in the future to go there. I used to tell tons of people about how great this place was........NOT...
Read moreCame in on a whim to introduce my girlfriend to Mediterranean food for the first time, it was close by and had good ratings but I never expected to find the best Mediterranean food I've ever had! We looked at their combos and was recommended the Alex Plate by some of the nicest staff you could ever expect and their opinions sounded genuine and we were incredibly astounded with their perfectly balanced flavors that came in their recommendation. I've ate my fair share of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food (we have definitely been blessed with a great variety here in Michigan) but they easily take the cake as the best in my book! I've never been the biggest Kibbee fan but theirs are out of this world and made me change my views immediately! The Garlic sauce and hummus were perfect and to top it all off even their french fries were incredibly crisp and absolutely perfect. All of our meats were perfectly seasoned & prepared. I was so proud that this was her first experience as you made her a fan immediately! They honestly are easily the best Middle Eastern Cuisine I've ever had hands down, there wasn't a single thing on the combo I didn't thoroughly enjoy and they easily made me a new customer for life!!! I can't wait to return to...
