I've grown up with this place being from the downriver area my family and I would eat here often and the service was always great and we'd never had a problem before.
Fast forward to today, I'm an adult now and I wanted to show my Future Husband what a great place this was. I moved over 2000 miles away and was coming back for a visit to see some family and eat some of the food I'd been missing. I'd spent so long on the flight over telling my fiance how awesome the food was here, especially the salads.
When we finally get to Romas and have a seat I'm expecting everything to go perfectly. Little did I know that they are under new management that's somehow screwed everything sideways. I'm not sure why people still eat here and my only conclusion is they must not know. Their $10 dinner salads that used to feed 4-5 people now barely feed 2. Though they've become less stingy with their dressing which I suppose is a plus, the only plus.
Shrugging this off as a change in the economy, we proceeded to order a pizza and a pitcher of beer to go with dinner. When they finally brought our beer it was FLAT, as in... flavored beer-water flat.
We sent it back and just ordered some water, trying not to let it ruin the meal. After getting full of pizza and salad and packing up our leftovers, we headed up to check out.
Only to find that they STILL charged us for the pitcher of beer. After asking the lady at the register she only said that the beer wasn't flat and we'd still have to pay for it. This was AFTER they had taken the pitcher back with NO INDICATION that we would still have to pay for it. I told her that I thought it was bad customer service to take the pitcher back without letting us know that we would still be charged, and that we would have kept it otherwise.
Her response was "I can't comp it because there are cameras watching us". She also did not have a name tag on and refused to tell me her name or give me her managers contact information.
This place has gone WAY down hill and I wont be eating...
Read moreI once again will probably not go there again for another 20 years. Not because the food is bad but because of the attitude of the owner. 1st there are what they may feel informative, but come off as rude and unwelcoming signs posted all over the entrance. They have this sign that says " no parties please". What exactly does that mean. Not more than 2 people? Don't enjoy a meal here? I am not sure but it feels awful. A group of 7 came in while we were there last night with a cake for a 15 year old. At 1st we were pleasantly surprised at the fact they were not asking them to leave but after a few minutes the older waitress that always has a VERY abrupt negative attitude approached them with the " you cant bring a cake in here". The rest of that is not important because it is why I wont go back. Lastly we mentioned our frustration with the house rules and the way the older waitress always acted to our waitress, who informed us this was her 2 day. She informed us this woman was not a bad person but didnt make those decisions. Shortly thereafter, the older waitress approached us defensively stating she not the bad guy but that the HEALTH DEPARTMENT threatened that if they allow people to bring cakes in the restaurant they would be fined!!! I have worked in the food industry for years as well as having brought cakes to restaurants for at least 40 years with NEVER hearing that. i refuse to give them anymore of my business and am willing to give up their food because of their UNWELCOMING atmosphere. Taking the stand that your customers should be treated with respect. That waitress should never had approached us at all. Last bad experience I will put upon myself for food. By the way they are overpriced and their quality has gone down. Go to Baldos it is a much better experience...
Read moreMy rating is for service. Not food. Our food was good per usual. We dine here pretty much weekly. The service on the other hand was terrible. Our server seemed to be off in la la land while waiting on us. We arrived at 745pm, they still seat tables until 830pm (close at 9). We proceeded to order an appetizer, 2 meals, and 2 pizzas for the kids. After we got our appetizer, about 20 to 25mins had gone by and our salad that comes with our meal had not come so I thought I'd ask about it (we wanted it before our dinner came). The waitress looked at us dumbfounded as if she had no idea we Ordered a dinner and salad. Mind you when we Ordered said dinner/Salad we had a discussion with her about it and the dressing and everything. She had zero recollection of this. She proceeded to tell us that she did not put the order for our dinner or salad in. Now at this point it's well after 830pm and our food has not even been ordered. Kids are already almost done eating. So she puts the order in but of course it's going to take a few because the kitchen didn't even know about it. Now we are the only table left and the staff proceeds to put up every chair in the building on to the tables so they can vacuum. Not enjoyable when you are trying to eat your dinner. Which again, we would have been out of there 30 to 45mins sooner had our server put our order in and not been off in La la land. Overall terrible experience. Terrible service. We were made to feel uncomfortable/rushed due to no fault of our own. Very unfortunate as we love to eat here and now don't feel...
