Nico's Pizza — Restaurant in Southington

Wish I could give halves, because this is a 3 1/2 star pizza place, but not a 4. We were REALLY hungry by the time we arrived, but the flavor just wasn't there. The pie was cut into little square pieces, making eating it on the road harder than it should be. The pepperoni was tasty, but not as spicy as I like. (Personal issues, what can i say.) The server on the phone was pleasant and complete, but the pizza wasn't ready when they said it would be. (I don't know if we caught them in a rush or not, but that's just something to watch out for). The sauce was a paste that just didn't seem to have any spices added (I never got a taste of any oregano or even olive oil). The crust (on the edge squares..) was crispy, but had no real flavor to it. Using cornmeal as a base when cooking can add so much flavor - this pie's crust was all flour. The cheese would rate a middle of the road grade as well, the quantity was right, but the flavor was just plain. On the road and hungry, It's a good stop. This restaurant is the worst delivery system of all time. The girl/woman answering the phone can’t write down proper delivery information and or relay it to her co-workers. Being within 3 miles of the restaurant and being called on 4 separate occasions to be asked what the address is again is unacceptable. Took over two hours for them to even offer the free food option and never showed up. Adam the manger on call was completely disrespectful and was texting blow off messages instead of talking on the phone like a properly run business should. When I asked for owners name and contact info I was blown off once again. At the end of the day it’s just food and not a big deal but when you have a pregnant woman in need of food it makes for things to be much more interesting. DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT IT IS ABSOULTELY PATHETIC!! Also ADAM should be fired...

Firstly, the pizza is SUPPOSED to be in squares. I saw a guy leave a bad review about square slices being not what he expected “from Connecticut.” Bro you must not be FROM Connecticut. Square cut pizza is all I had growing up here.

Second, the food is really good! It’s not gourmet but it’s GOOD and the prices are VERY reasonable. A family of 4 can eat like kings from Nico’s for under a hundred bucks. You’re not getting that anywhere else in 2025.

The menu is diverse. The pizza is great, the gyro is great, the grinders are really good (meatballs could be bigger but it’s a joint, not an Italian restaurant so I forgive them.)

No complaints (except don’t use Grubhub, they have no idea how/do not care how to deliver a pizza properly lol; just pick it...
