The best "Mexican" food we had since Texas, and one of the best place in US we feel you can get some real Mexican food, California. I grew up in Southern California where Burritos and Taco's even off the "Taco Truck" is the bomb. Texas is probably the next best thing with "Tex Mex," but Salsa's reminds us more of California with the style and taste. We've only been in Connecticut for about a year and tried a couple of non-chain Mexican restaurant and this is by the best so far. They have all of the varieties from Carne Asada to Lengua (tongue) and Cabezas (brains) for the real Mexicans and Mexican food lovers who know what real Mexican food should have as a variety. Salsa's serve it fresh to order. Moe's and not even Chipotle comes even close to the burritos from Salsa's. The way they prepared and served it fresh to your table was cool, not to mention you could get a Modelo or Corona with your meal. The kids even loved it...So far, this is our best spot for Mexican food in all of Connecticut until we find something else, but we doubt. If you're in for a good Mexican food with Burritos, Tacos, Nachos, or Tortas with real Mexican food taste, then you have give Salsa's...
Read moreWife and I went for a few drinks and some apps on National Margarita Day. The sign on the door said $7 Margaritas so my wife said I’ll have your $7 margarita special but can you make it a “spicy” Margarita, which turned out to by just tequila and a jalapeño in it. Not spicy what so ever but she didn’t say a word about it. Next we got guacamole and asked for it spicy. They decided to put their “spicy” salsa in the guac and mix it up and put cheese on top. Absolutely awful and not spicy at all. Fine, didn’t say a word. We got the bill and they charged us $12 for the margarita. I politely said to the female bartender, “the sign says $7 Margaritas.” She said well you got it spicy so it’s a different price. I said “that’s fine but I wish you just said that earlier.” We paid our tab and as I am leaving the tip, the bartender rudely throws $12 at us and condescendingly says, “don’t worry I’ll pay for your margarita” and chuckled. We didn’t say anything back and politely put the $12 back ontop of our bill and left. We live right up the street and moved here about 6 months ago and figured we would check it out for the first time. We will never be...
Read moreQuick Review: Horrible Mexican food, do not waste your money. In-depth Review: Unfortunately, google doesn’t allow me to rate this place 0 stars. The fact this place is considered a Mexican food location is embarrassing to the culture and all Hispanics alike. I’m convinced those rating this location higher than one star are use to seasoning their foods with black pepper and salt only. I ordered a coffee and was greeted with someone’s left-over lipstick on the coffee mug. Disgusting and poor service to not properly inspect dishes. Ordered a $21 carne asada burrito that does not belong on the menu. As seen in the photo, this is the burrito made. Note, steak was not removed from this burrito it was fully filled with rice and beans only. Bland taste to all sides and absolutely no taste to the burrito. Enchiladas were also ordered and had no flavor. Management has seemed to overly Americanize this location by raising prices to over $20 for a $2 quality burrito. Owners should reassess their performance and quality. Do not recommend even trying. And as a Latino, do not...
