Avventura Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Southington

After reading the Southington Best of Awards 2019 nominations online, I decided to try out a few of the nominees. My first stop, Avventura Deli and Bakery. I went straight for that Salad Bar, and let me tell you, there is not another one like it around. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! Delish! I got a couple cold salads from the deli to go, those will be lunch tomorrow. Can't wait to try the grinders! Then Pit stop on the Bakery side...OMG!!! DANGEROUS!! I took home 2 Cannoli, a piece of cheesecake for my husband, and a slice of Carrot cake. Absolutely delicious. The assortment is overwhelming, and if you cannot find something that you like in this bakery, then you dont deserve a dessert at all! I asked about a cake and the gentleman that was helping me turned to a window behind him and pointed to a woman who was the pastry chef. She came out and was very happy to help me even though she was very obviously in the middle of something. Something that I appreciated very much! Great staff, great customer service! Sandwiches are very good. Baked goods look very nicely presented. 7 or 8 dollars for a hard roll sandwich is high. Grinder sandwiches at 10 are good portion size for the money, they are huge. It just doesn't make sense to buy a hard roll. As far as service goes, the people actually making sandwiches and at the register are very nice. The problem is that even though there were 3 guys making sandwiches, one guy was training and didn't really know what to do yet. Which is fine, but it was very busy and there was another gentleman in a formula one shirt literally LEANING UP AGAINST THE WALL watching the other people working. I also watched as it took 3 people to make a cappuccino. It took me about 20 minutes to get a sandwich. I know its Saturday, and I expected to not be in and out, but there are obvious training and staffing issues which need to be resolved before I consider returning. There;s also no obvious line formation, just a big cluster of people up against the counter. Ropes and guides would go a long way...

I’ve been getting the ceasar salad wrap for about 3 days straight now it’s been delicious until today when i ordered the short lady with dark hair and a raspy voice coughed all over my wrap without in any way trying to cover her mouth. then she proceeded to finish wrapping my wrap and as she’s wrapping i literally see her picking up the salad that’s falling out and putting it in her mouth WITH HER GLOVES ON. i was beyond shocked that someone would do that in general but doing that in open while customers are watching you is outrageous!!!! i will never come here again. i spoke up and got my wrap remade but it’s the fact that this worker had no shame in doing something like this and i will no longer trust food here. PLEASE TALK TO THIS LADY ABOUT RECYCLING GLOVES AND bring hygienic when it comes to making...
