Ok, I am giving this place 4 stars because half stars are not available and maybe some of this was my fault. Either way, this place is a solid 3.5 stars. Here's why. First off, this place is a baja style FRIED seafood place that also dabbles in cajun food. The wife and I looked at the menu and tried quite a few things figuring that the place is in Southlake and had a decent crowd that maybe it was pretty damn good. It wasn't bad at best. I got a half dozen raw oysters, the grilled redfish and grilled squash and rice, some alligator nuggets, lobster chowder in a bread bowl, lobster Shuckpuppies and then the wife got the fried catfish. Sadly enough the two best things where the oysters which were not cooked and the grilled squash. Everything else was par at best. All the fried food was just salty. Salty. Most would have been better had it just not been so salty. Alligator bites were good chunks but salty. The lobster shuckpuppies were pretty good but salty. The fried catfish was the same, decent but salty. The grilled redfish was horrible. Flavorless and hard . Dried out and sadly over cooked. Actually, I would sooner believe it had been recently frozen and most likely freezer burned but there was definitely no flakiness to the fish meaning it had no moisture and it didn't appear over cooked but sure tasted dry and hard. It was paired with Mexican rice which was also dry and flavorless. The Lobster chowder was super thick and rich and wasn't too bad but for the fact that it looked like that cut up a whole potato in there so they wouldn't have to serve so much chowder. The potato was big chunks and was flavorless and hard. In the end, this place seems popular with the rich folks in Southlake who probably don't know any better anyways but it wasn't very impressive to me. It was a Sunday afternoon and went for my bday but maybe we went on a bad day. I have to believe this place can't be that popular with that kind of food. Hopefully i just caught a bad day or even a hurried dish or something but we will most likely...
Read moreIf you’re not emotionally ready to fall in love with fried seafood, then baby—don’t step foot into Shuck Me. But if you are ready for crispy, buttery, flavor-soaked bliss? Pull up, order at the counter, and get your life together over a basket of catfish and some bangin’ shrimp. First of all, let’s talk about the Bang Bang Shrimp. Y’all. Y’ALL. They lay these golden little bites of heaven over a bed of lettuce and that fluffy white rice like they know exactly what your soul has been missing. The shrimp is perfectly fried—light, crisp, never greasy—with a sweet heat from that creamy bang bang sauce that hits your tongue like a flirty wink. Mix that all together, lettuce and rice included, and suddenly you’re doing math in your head to figure out how often you can come back without becoming a local legend. Now for the Thursday All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Special. Listen, I’m from the South. I know catfish. And this catfish? It brought peace to a two-week catfish craving that had me acting dramatic in public. It’s flaky, tender, and wrapped in the kind of crispy cornmeal breading that makes you want to text your ex and tell them you’ve moved on—to better things. We couldn’t even finish it all, and trust me, we tried. The fries are classic, golden, and reliable—like the friend who always reminds you to hydrate and carry snacks. And the whole vibe of Shuck Me? Casual perfection. You order at the counter (don’t let that fool you—this food deserves a tablecloth and fanfare), then you kick back with your people, soak in the welcoming, rustic atmosphere, and wait for greatness to arrive in a red basket. This isn’t fine dining, darling—it’s fine vibing. It’s comfort food with swagger. It’s the kind of meal that hugs you from the inside out and leaves you planning your return visit before you’ve even made it to the parking lot. In short: Go hungry. Go often. Go with people who will forgive you when you don’t share...
Read moreI ordered through Door dash the fried red snapper, spicy garlic shrimp, and 4pc fried catfish. The red snapper was overcooked and very rubbery. None of the food was seasoned AT ALL especially the seafood. Not a lick of seasoning. The french fries was old and tasted recooked.
Now I understand that the food was would not be hot when I received it because it is through a delivery service but it was not even warm. Even with that said, I may have given them another chance by actually eating at the restaurant before giving a robust review especially because I love Aw Shucks and this is a sister company BUT this establishment does not take responsibility for their food. I called Shuck Me to tell them about my food and spoke with someone that said she was the manager. She offered for me to come up to the restaurant to receive a partial refund. First she did not ask for my name or order. Second, I ordered for delivery so if I did that why would I come up there. There was a reason I ordered delivery. Third, only partial (Really???). Then she proceeds to blame Door dash and says that they did not arrive until 10 minutes late. Even if that was true, it has nothing to do with it being overcooked. She then tells me to contact Door dash. Too me that is terrible customer service and tells me that you don't take pride in your food. I will not order for them and would be wary if eating their food. I did contact Door dash to inform them of the issue and they did refund me the amount of the dish but it should have been Shuck me refunding.
Hope this helps someone as after reading reviews some other individuals complained about the under seasoning and overcooked food and sometimes you wonder if it is a one off situation but now I know it is the...
