It’s fanciful, and definitely fusion in concept, but it just doesn’t hit the mark similar to the service you would see at a Brazilian steakhouse, nor does it embrace the “ITALIAN” and offer pizza with more accent and flare.
What’s not on the menu?
Anchovies (yeah, I’m one of “those types”)
At any Italian restaurant serving Pizza, you could find them, but definitely not here.
Won’t find any Zaney California pineapple that I noted, nor any other combinations that you might find “Italian”, unless perhaps you ask for them, but you’ll be limited to the toppings and ingredients that they putting out that day.
Our table was hammered with pizza offerings in the first 15 minutes, but then it was a 30 minute wait, while we watched as new customers were the next focus. So, do not sit close to that servers pizza counter because even though they see you, they’re gonna walk right past you with the pizza they have so they can get it to the new customers who are on the other side of the restaurant and then, by the time they come back, They won’t have anything but an empty dish.
I think I must’ve asked our waitress a few times if we’re going to get pizza, and she said that we would get it when new stuff came out from being baked.
But again, I watched as it passed us and was delivered to new customer so they would be satisfied.
No, we weren’t hogging, nor were we consuming more than what was warranted, considering the price you pay per plate.
Also noted, the stream of to go orders. They take precedence, and I watched this box, after box preparation for delivery or pick up or who knows what but it definitely wasn’t part of the experience because they didn’t put Pizza in boxes to bring to the table.
I did see that an oven wasn’t being used, but, still that’s no excuse for trying to deliver what they’re trying to do and yet accommodate a stream of or pick up orders.
By the time we got tired of waiting for Pizza, we just simply asked for dessert which by the way I’m pretty sure he’s gonna have cheese on it.
If you go to Cicis, you’re gonna get a dessert that is not exactly what you expect in terms of “wow “factor but, you do get dessert that makes sense.
So when you’re chewing on dessert here, that extra chewy part that seems like it goes with the dish, but it’s kind of strange because it’s chewy, I’m pretty sure is cheese (and not cream cheese). So unless they mistakenly added cheese to the dessert that we received or if they intentionally do it, I’m not so sure that works, but it’s whatever they’re doing I suppose and whatever you’re paying for.
The atmosphere seems really nice at first, but as you sit there and wait for Pizza, you start looking to see what you can really see about a restaurant that starts to miss the mark.
So as I waited, I noted the manager thumb through his phone over the far corner of the bar. You would think, that he might check on tables, but he didn’t, or at least he never rechecked on us. The only time he bothered with us was on the matter of having a reservation for a restaurant that was 15 to 20% filled, and directed us to the choice of three tables by the servers pizza bar where the pizzas come out. Again, definitely the place you do not want to sit.
As I looked around even more, I saw a bar that didn’t look as serviceable as other bars, but I will admit that they had a pretty handsome wine selection. I had the Boch beer on tap and that was pretty good and definitely fit with pizza pairing.
The salad and meatballs were a hit, but beyond that flare, fire, and screeching tires at the beginning of the meal, followed by very little horsepower moving on through the dining experience, it was a letdown.
Only 8 types of pizza made it to our table (2 we’re uncommon - lamb and corn)
It is definitely tasty pizza, but the 300% markup that you pay for otherwise dining at cicis is probably...
Read moreUPDATE: LEFT OUR TABLE WITHOUT EATING. I invited my father - he had recent surgeries and we don’t get to see each other often. What a DISAPPOINTMENT this was! 2 weeks ago was my first time. I didn’t know it was a “taste testing” experience, but my server Jose said I can skip that, and order a single pizza from the menu. (Even at brazilian steakhouses, a regular menu is offered for people like me, who don’t want to eat a dozen things). The atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful, so I was happy to be accommodated - I ordered one lamb pizza for lunch. Then YESTERDAY with my father- was a different story. He cannot eat a lot, he was in pain, and wanted to enjoy ONE single cheese pizza with me. Very simple, should be easy. But nope! The waitress said we have to order the buffet style pizzas for $25 each. I explained I was there 2 weeks earlier, and told that I can ALWAYS order a single item from the menu. She said they won’t honor it. (We wanted to share a $14 pizza, not a $50 lunch that we wouldn’t eat) so another woman was sent to us. She confirmed they won’t cook one cheese pizza UNLESS we go to the BAR. My father once owned a pizza restaurant, so he was shocked by this treatment. He was in pain, it wasn’t busy. He said, “so we have to GET UP from our table, and go sit on bar stools?” She said “yes, when I ordered a single pizza last time, maybe it was an exemption!” Nope I was not told it was an “exemption”. I was told it’s available anytime, after double checking with Jose. (Yesterday, we were even given the regular menu by other staff- after I asked). What a mess. We stated that if we have to leave our table to sit at the bar, we’ll leave the restaurant. After all of this, they said fine, they will make us one pizza because they don’t want us to leave / never come back. (By this point, I would’ve walked out - but my father was hungry). When she walked away to place the order - my father saw her gossiping, then a man getting angry about it in the open kitchen, so he said “Let’s go”! He stayed polite.. then outside he was in a grumpy mood, hungry, in pain. They almost ruined our afternoon, until we found a better place and were treated wonderfully. Some people have lost their humanity and I WILL NEVER BRING FAMILY TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN. (My nice review from 2 weeks ago is below)
Came on a Sunday afternoon.. I ordered a lamb pizza, artisan style with fantastic flavor. Jose was a very attentive and friendly waiter. He suggested a great pizza. And bonus points for the relaxing latin music....
Read moreReading some of the reviews before writing ours was honestly shocking. However, from what I’m reading it seems that maybe people are expecting a typical pizza restaurant vs the “Brazilian” experience overall. I worked at a pizza restaurant as a teenager and grew up eating delicious Italian food cooked by my grandmother and in Boston.
With that said here was our experience. We arrived about 5pm and had a party of five; two adults, two twelve year olds and a five year old. Our children were raised to try everything at least once, therefore they are not picky eaters. The manager took us to our table and the waiter quickly arrived, both very polite. Our drinks came quickly along with meatballs, lobster bisque and a salad.
The PIZZA!!!! We decided as a group that we would try everything. Some things we got one to two slices and shared to see if we liked it and others we all got a piece. The slices were small enough that we weren’t full after two pieces, the perfect size in our opinion. Once we tried everything and they came around again we had more. If we wanted more than one piece per person they had no problem giving us more than one. The cheese they use is phenomenal, not too much sauce and just the right amount of toppings. Our favorites were the lamb, Mexican elite. Our 12 year old son loved the mushroom, 12 year old daughter loved the Mexican elite, 5 year old daughter loved the pepperoni and the chicken marsala. My husband and I were blow away by the lamb. ALL of us ate a lot and topped it off with A LOT of Nutella pizza. The servers remembered the ones we enjoyed the most and made sure to bring more by. The waiter asked what pizzas we were waiting for and made sure when a fresh one came out they brought us some.
We give this restaurant 5 stars all around and will definitely be back. For people who are in a rush and not wanting to enjoy the experience of it it’s definitely not for you. If you have children who are picky eaters it seems unfair to blame the restaurant on...
